Internationalizing education and training students to become global citizens is the development orientation of Dai Nam University. To promote the above strategy, the University pays special attention to expanding international cooperation, inviting foreign experts to share and train. Following that activity, recently, Dai Nam University organized a training session with Dr. Tony Richardson - an education expert with 35 years of experience, currently working at the University of Sunshine Coast (Australia) on innovating teaching methods, improving research capacity, and student management for the staff and lecturers of the Nursing Faculty.

As society develops, people's demand for health care is increasing. This is one of the reasons leading to the shortage of high-quality medical human resources in Vietnam and many countries around the world. Nursing graduates are therefore "valuable" and sought after by many countries.

Understanding that importance, Dai Nam University advocates the gradual internationalization of Nursing Bachelor training. Specifically, the University has signed cooperation agreements with international enterprises and educational organizations on Nursing training; continuously innovates and improves teaching quality. Lecturers are regularly trained to improve their qualifications, access and master modern teaching methods, closely following training trends and learning needs of learners.

Advanced training with foreign experts is a regular activity of teachers of the Nursing Faculty of Dai Nam University.

At the sharing session, Dr. Tony Richardson emphasized the important role of lecturers in guiding students to self-study and master the learning process. Teachers should not confine students to a stereotype but need to understand the needs and desires of students to come up with flexible and appropriate teaching and assessment methods.

Accordingly, Dr. Tony Richardson suggested that teachers of the Nursing Department of Dai Nam University pilot the application of a portfolio to evaluate students' learning journey. This not only encourages students to actively study, enrich their portfolios, but also helps teachers conveniently monitor students' learning progress. Having a quality academic profile also helps students easily score points with employers.

Mr. Pham Van Hong - Principal of Dai Nam University said: The methods that Dr. Tony Richardson shared are very suitable for the training orientation and can be applied at Dai Nam University.

“We hope to have more connections and cooperation with the University of the Sunshine Coast in the future; through live and online seminars and workshops on teaching methods, student management, improving research qualifications, foreign language skills…”.

Dai Nam University constantly promotes international cooperation.

During the meeting and working session, Dr. Tony Richardson visited the facilities, learning and practice equipment of the Nursing students. With the "huge" investment of Dai Nam University in the Health sector, Dr. Tony Richardson commented that this is an ideal learning environment, a solid foundation of expertise and practical skills for Nursing students to confidently step out into the world.

“I am impressed by the quickness and timeliness of Dai Nam University in training Bachelor of Nursing in the direction of internationalization. At the same time, I am impressed by the youthfulness, enthusiasm and ability to communicate in foreign languages of the Nursing faculty. In the future, I want to work with my colleagues at Dai Nam University and further strengthen international cooperation.”

Dr. Tony Richardson attends a practical class for Nursing students.

Mr. Tran Quang Huy - Head of Nursing Faculty shared: "After the sharing session with experts, we not only had access to methods of teaching, assessment, connection, interaction, and student management, but also were inspired and motivated to work; determined to join Dai Nam University to make a breakthrough and make the Nursing Faculty become the leading "address" for training in the Nursing industry in Vietnam..."

In the coming time, the Faculty of Nursing will continue to organize seminars with foreign experts, send staff and lecturers to experience the reality, train at health care facilities, at hospitals to improve qualifications, innovate training methods, create motivation and inspiration for students to study; aiming for the goal of "100% of Dai Nam University students graduating with solid expertise, good skills, fluent in foreign languages, qualified to become global citizens, have good jobs and attractive incomes".
