DNU Film Festival 'come back' with 5 times the scale and grandeur of season 1

These days, the temperature at Dai Nam University has increased unusually. The reason is because the DNU Extended Film Festival - one of the most anticipated competitions of the year has officially 'come back' with a scale and grandeur 5 times larger than in 2023. The professional crew, outstanding actors, profound script, total prize value of up to 22 million VND... will definitely bring DNUERS meaningful and classy films.

The DNU Film Festival is organized by the Faculty of Soft Skills Training and Development in collaboration with the Youth Union of Dai Nam University. This is a useful playground for students to thoroughly apply theory and skills into practice; fully exploit their talents and creativity, creating a launching pad for Gen Z to position their personal brand, confidently integrate, establish themselves, start a career, have a good life and be a good citizen, responsible for their family and society.

With the theme “Taking Off Dai Nam”, the contest hopes to convey the message: Dai Nam University is a solid launching pad to help generations of students develop strongly and reach new heights. Accordingly, the 2024 DNU Open Film Festival is a reunion and competition of students and alumni of all courses.

The total number of short films expected to participate in this year's competition is 330. The number of films participating in the final round is 80.

Known as one of the most dynamic schools in the capital, it is no surprise that DNU students are extremely talented and enthusiastic. In many school events, boys and girls have 'transformed' into actors, models, MCs, photographers, cameramen, choreographers, cinematographers, leaders... Therefore, writing scripts, acting, filming, and post-production are no problem for DNUERS.

Certainly, generations of DNU alumni will bring to the expanded DNU Film Festival films with clear scripts, attractive content, meaningful messages, meticulous post-production, and impressive acting. It promises to give the jury a “headache” in choosing short films to participate in the final round.

Passing the qualifying round, DNUERS entered the Gala night with a grand and elaborate investment following the award format of the International Film Festival. Here, the young men and women were dressed in gorgeous costumes, walked on the red carpet, took check-in photos with the professional photography team, met and interacted with famous actors, reviewed impressive films and received grand awards.

Thu Trang – Faculty of Communication, Best Actress Award at DNU Film Festival 2023 shared: “The competition helped me discover another side of myself. I am confident, energetic and not afraid to act in front of the camera like before. I am grateful to the teachers for creating a useful academic playground, so that we can both play and be creative. With a scale and grandeur 5 times larger than in 2023, the total prize value of this year's competition has also been 'upgraded', up to 22 million VND.

Things to remember when participating in the 2024 DNU Open Film Festival competition

Time of organization

• Deadline for submissions: before March 12, 2024.
• Short film voting period: from March 22, 2024 – March 25, 2024.
• Voting period for best actor and best supporting actor: March 26, 2024 – March 28, 2024.

Subject and number of films

• All students of all courses of faculties in Dai Nam University
• All students of Course 16 are studying the Advanced Soft Skills course.
• Former students who studied at Dai Nam University

Regulations on contest products

Each team must make a short film that meets the following requirements:

• The film's theme and genre are self-selected, requiring a clear plot and content. The film must use scenes filmed at Dai Nam University or use uniforms and brand identities related to the School.
• Time: 05 - 08 minutes/film.
• There is the name of the film (the beginning of the film), the people who made the film (the end of the film), the logo of Dai Nam University in the upper right corner (logo in PNG, vector format), at the end of the film there is the statement "Product of the Advanced Soft Skills course - Faculty of Soft Skills Training and Development" for K16 students participating in the Advanced Soft Skills course and "Product of Dai Nam University" for students of other courses and alumni.
• If you record with a camera or phone, use a regular camera, do not record with apps like tiktok, vivavideo...
• If you film with your phone, remember to shoot horizontally, reduce noise, process the sound to make it clear, and add Vietnamese subtitles for viewers to follow.
• Good movies must have music, please note that using music does not violate copyright, the team is responsible if uploading to social media platforms is muted or the video is removed.
• Must clearly state the source if the product is "remake" and take full responsibility for copyright.
• The filming location, costumes and actors are suitable for the role, and actors outside the support group may be used.
• The contest product must be the intellectual property and creation of the group. Any actions related to copyright and intellectual property issues will be disqualified and the results will be canceled.

TOTAL SCORE = (1) Jury's voting score + (2) score of the number of entries viewed on the faculty's Fanpage

(1) Jury's voting score = Jury's score * 50%

(2) Contest entry reach score = total reach * 50%
