Donating liver to save father, interrupting studies but still achieving "awesome" results of female DNU student

The story of Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh donating her liver to save her father – a student of class QHCC 15.01 – left a lasting impression on teachers and students of Dai Nam University. Not only were they touched by her filial piety and admired her will to live, DNUERs also admired the “not-so-average” academic achievements of this female student from Bac Ninh.
Even if there is a 1% chance, I must save my father.
During the Lunar New Year 2022, Thuy Linh's father's health deteriorated severely, turning into liver failure and only a liver transplant could save his life. The cost of the major surgery, about 2 billion VND, was too great for her family.
Although the family had at times wanted to give up, the 18-year-old girl at that time, the only one in the family with the courage to match her father, firmly affirmed: "Even if there is only a 1% chance, I must save my father."

Entering the operating room, the filial girl donated 70% of her liver weight to her father. Her liver has 3 main arteries, of which 2 were given to her father. Doctors said that the remaining liver cells, if healthy and provided with enough nutrition, as well as not attacked by other pathological agents, will actively regenerate and can reach a weight large enough to meet the body's liver function.
The encouragement of family, teachers, friends, and a positive, optimistic spirit helped Thuy Linh recover quickly after the major surgery. Up to now, Thuy Linh and her father's health have both improved and they have been able to return to normal life.
DNU unanimously supports in all aspects
Knowing Thuy Linh’s situation, the whole school “joined in”, joining hands to support, calling for donations, and helping her family overcome this difficult period. The school’s board of directors immediately signed a decision to reduce Thuy Linh’s tuition by 30% per semester; creating all conditions for her to complete her courses.
Thuy Linh always values knowledge and constantly strives to study.
With the enthusiastic support of her teachers, Thuy Linh quickly filled the knowledge gap of her 1-month leave. Not only that, the determined girl also won the school's scholarship to encourage learning as soon as she returned.
“The support from the school has helped me and my family a lot to overcome difficult times and disasters. I am grateful to the teacher who always creates conditions and wholeheartedly supports me both materially and spiritually. I feel lucky to be able to study at such a humane school,” the 10X expressed.
There are many “harvests” at DNU
Deciding to “pursue” the Public Relations major at Dai Nam University, Thuy Linh said: This is a creative major with wide career opportunities. Above all, the school focuses on promoting practice in this major; cooperating with many businesses, news agencies, newspapers, and media for students to experience reality, practice, and intern; opening up opportunities to rub shoulders and increase “real-life” abilities.
The Faculty of Communication promotes practice in training.

The knowledge and experience she has gained have helped Thuy Linh “fall in love” with the content creation profession. She used to be the “main writer” for a business specializing in providing courses and an agency specializing in providing tours and airline tickets. With the support of her teachers, Thuy Linh also has collaborative articles posted on the school’s website and the Faculty’s fanpage.
Thuy Linh's academic achievements are also "formidable" when she was in the Top 3 students with the highest academic results in the class for 4 consecutive terms and won a scholarship; the "Silver Wave" award at the "The New Wave" Film Festival organized by the Faculty of Soft Skills Training and Development; Champion of "Golden Bell" Camp 6 at the Soft Skills Training Camp.

“I have gained a lot after 2 years of studying at Dai Nam University. That is professional knowledge; professional skills; teamwork skills, leadership and management skills, sense of responsibility... Connecting and having good relationships with teachers and seniors in the profession; having good friends from many different regions”, Thuy Linh expressed.
Want to become an independent girl, contributing to society
Because she values knowledge, Thuy Linh always focuses on studying anytime, anywhere. During class, the female student always takes full notes, highlights the content she doesn't understand to ask the teacher; actively speaks up, volunteers to build lessons to earn extra points and improve her score. During recess and break time at the company, the 10X student uses it to do group assignments; learn new knowledge related to her major and job.
Thuy Linh believes: "What is yours will last the longest" . Therefore, Linh always strives to become an independent, self-reliant girl; using her tolerance and kindness to help people, contributing good things to society.
“For me, the wind of each level will meet the clouds of that level. If I want to meet better people, live in a better environment, be loved and respected by everyone, I have to develop myself to be worthy of those things,” Linh asserted.
Although the road ahead is full of difficulties and challenges; I hope Thuy Linh will always be strong to overcome them. I wish the female student of Public Relations always good health and reap more achievements in the future.
