Graduates must have jobs, otherwise whose fault is it?

The connection between “school – business – student” is like a solid “tripod”, ensuring the success of the training program, the quality of student output, and bringing value to all three parties. The school trains and provides high-quality human resources. Businesses accept and employ workers. Students have jobs and ensure their lives. However, in our country, the situation of unemployed graduates has been on the rise in recent years. Is the cause only from the students, or are both businesses and schools at fault? What should be done to overcome this situation?
According to the General Statistics Office, more than 400,000 bachelors graduate every year. However, the number of unemployed workers is nearly 200,000 (unemployed, working in jobs outside of their expertise, manual labor, etc.). In particular, the rate of unemployed trained workers is 3% higher than the general unemployment rate of the whole country.
According to experts, the causes come from all three sides: schools, students and businesses.
Specifically:
Causes from the school: Many universities are using outdated training programs, heavy on theory, little practice, and lack of experience, leading to the situation where students graduate without practical experience and lacking and weak skills that businesses need. This is the reason why students are rejected right from the application round.
In addition, many universities have not focused on connecting and cooperating with businesses to train or cooperate for the sake of it. Students do not have the opportunity to practice and intern at businesses. Businesses do not have the conditions to contact and train potential human resources at training facilities.
Schools, students and businesses must work together to reduce unemployment.
Causes from students: Most students do not receive career guidance when entering school, have not determined their learning goals, and do not have the awareness to self-improve and practice knowledge and skills.
Poor discipline in lifestyle and working style also causes many graduates to eliminate themselves from businesses.
The attitude of working with too high "ego" and demanding benefits before starting makes it difficult for many young people to integrate into the working environment, especially in large corporate environments that require professionalism, discipline and high integration ability.
Lack of soft skills (communication, teamwork, presentation, negotiation, etc.), lack of skills (self-understanding skills, office computer skills, interview skills, CV writing skills, etc.) are the reasons why students fail right from the first round.
Cause from the business: As an employer, many businesses do not create conditions for students to practice and intern. The situation of interns only "pouring water, making tea, doing chores" instead of directly getting to work has become common, making students who are already lacking in practical skills even weaker.
What to do to fix it?
Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Van Hong - Principal of Dai Nam University said: In order for students to have jobs after graduation and say no to unemployment, schools - businesses - students must join hands to act.
Application-oriented training - fostering entrepreneurial thinking and spirit, designing training programs according to the requirements (orders) of businesses and society, enhancing maximum experience at businesses for students are mandatory requirements in training high-quality human resources today.
In addition, training institutions must also pay special attention to training soft skills for students, cultivating discipline and lifelong health habits - factors that help learners succeed throughout their lives.
Build a Center to connect businesses and introduce jobs for students; ensure 100% of graduates have jobs and stable lives.
Enterprises create conditions for students to practice, intern with guidance, and receive pay right from the first year and throughout the study process.
Students need to proactively improve their self-awareness in learning. Take advantage of the school's "resources" to practice professional skills and attitudes; expand business connections, maintain good relationships with "seniors" in the profession to increase job opportunities and career advancement.
