“What you do is not important, what is important is that you find good companions and constantly improve your value every day... The future of Winner or Loser is up to you to decide” . That is the advice of Mr. Le Dac Lam - Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dai Nam University, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vntrip Technology Company and Mr. Huynh Minh Viet - Co-founder of Kim Dental clinic chain, General Director of Ivy School chain for new graduates of Dai Nam University at the Graduation Ceremony and awarding of Bachelor, Pharmacist, Engineer degrees for the first batch of 2023.

The solemn graduation ceremony with many emotions and meaningful lessons for the new Bachelors, Pharmacists, and Engineers of Dai Nam University in 2023.

Graduating from university is an important milestone marking a new stage of maturity in the lives of students; it is the time for new Bachelors, Pharmacists, and Engineers to choose a place to "join the army" to affirm their abilities and self-worth to build a career. Facing this important "crossroads", most young people wonder: Which company is suitable? Choose a high income or a good boss? How to develop every day and not become a loser, be eliminated?...

In order to help new Bachelors, new Pharmacists, new Engineers gain more skills, confidence as well as be motivated to confidently step into the next journey, Dai Nam University invited leaders of large enterprises to share about career opportunities and requirements of a Bachelor graduate when entering the labor market; to inspire and motivate the new graduates.

“Huge” profiles of speakers

Mr. Le Dac Lam is known as Vice Chairman of the Board of Dai Nam University, Chairman of Vntrip Technology Company, a startup that raised nearly 20 million dollars and was valued at $45 million in 2018. In addition to Vntrip, Mr. Lam is also Chairman of VTVCAB Sport Sports Development Company under Vietnam Television, Chairman of VietFootball Joint Stock Company, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Volleyball Federation and former Vice Chairman of Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association, term 7.

Mr. Le Dac Lam (2nd from left) and the Board of Directors received flowers of gratitude from the new Bachelor of Economics - Business.

Mr. Huynh Minh Viet is the co-founder of the Kim Dental chain; General Director and co-founder of the Ivy School preschool chain with 9 facilities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. He is a member of the Board of Directors of IDS and LS Holdings, in charge of mobilizing capital from Japan to develop office buildings and hotels in Hanoi. In addition, Mr. Viet is also an investor in a number of pioneering technology companies such as: Got It e-vouchers, Ecotruck, and OneOffice.

Before returning home to start a business, Mr. Viet received an ASEAN scholarship to study high school in Singapore, graduated with a bachelor's and master's degree from Stanford University, and an MBA from Harvard University.

Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Van Hong presented flowers and gifts to thank Mr. Huynh Minh Viet.

What should new graduates do to "live well"?

Find yourself a good teacher after graduation.

Sharing with the new university graduates, Mr. Le Dac Lam affirmed: “The first 2 years of work were one of the most precious times of my life. It was not because of what job I did that after graduating I found a great boss. Thanks to that, I changed every day and achieved the achievements I have today. Therefore, I want to tell the new graduates that what you do is not as important as who you work with. Don’t rush to start a business, but instead gain experience and practical skills by finding a good boss after graduating.”

Accordingly, the boss is the first teacher when new graduates step into society and join the labor market. A good boss will help you learn many things and have positive changes in knowledge, thinking, and skills. This is the premise for new Bachelors, Pharmacists, and Engineers to open up many development opportunities in the future; income levels also increase because of that.

Mr. Le Dac Lam advised new graduates to pay attention to their first bosses - their first teachers.

Not only that, a good boss can also become a "mentor" for young people in life; help them avoid temptations and pitfalls; know how to behave; handle problems skillfully and professionally.

Make friends with good people

However, not everyone is lucky enough to find a good mentor. Therefore, Mr. Le Dac Lam emphasized: “If you have not found a good boss, make friends with good people. Make friends with good people, you will also become a talented person in the future”.

Borrowing the words of famous speaker Jim Rohn, Mr. Le Dac Lam analyzed: “You are the average of the 5 people you meet most often. For example, if you have 9 points and you play with 5 people who have 5 points, you will only get about 6 points on average. But if you have 5 points and you play with 5 people who have 9 points, you will get more than 8 points. That shows that when you play with people who are more skilled than you, you will have the motivation to strive and improve every day. On the contrary, if you associate with people who have stagnant thinking, are afraid of change, and are negative, you will also be held back.”

Mr. Huynh Minh Viet advised the new graduates to continuously learn and improve their knowledge and skills every day.

Sharing the same view, Mr. Huynh Minh Viet said: “Being around successful people who are quick to adapt to the times will definitely make you a good person and make you successful and rich. Therefore, cherish every second, every minute to learn and absorb experiences and lessons from life and the people around you.”

Find your own language

Mr. Huynh Minh Viet especially noted that each young person should find their own language. It could be any language such as English, Chinese, Japanese, programming language... or it could be their own language - a value or an advantage of themselves to turn it into a strength to help them enter the labor market more easily, find a suitable job, true to their passion; affirm their own abilities and values; advance in their career."

Citing his own story, Mr. Huynh Minh Viet affirmed: “Language has changed my life.”

In 2016, Mr. Viet "joined hands" with 02 compatriots (01 is a Dentist, 01 is an Engineer) to realize the desire to build and develop the leading dental chain in Vietnam. Although he has no experience in dentistry, but has the advantage of English, Mr. Viet takes on all work related to foreign partners.

Good foreign language skills and quickness in work helped Mr. Viet expand relationships; attract many potential partners for the business. When clinics had to close due to the Covid-19 epidemic, dental staff were on the brink of losing their jobs; the efforts of Mr. Viet and his colleagues helped 800 people have jobs, the business developed, attracting more than 1,000 customers per day, and increasing staff.

Change your mindset and strive to create personal value every day

Society is constantly developing, knowledge is not expanding; therefore, Mr. Huynh Minh Viet reminded the new graduates to always strive to cultivate, study and create value every day.

“Value can be created with the smallest actions. You can reduce the time you spend surfing the web, playing games, watching TikTok… to make room for learning and absorbing new knowledge; create value from the smallest things such as taking care of and developing yourself; loving your family; actively exchanging and learning from colleagues, friends, successful people; living positively every day”.

“Learn to change” – the motto for new Bachelors, Pharmacists, and Engineers to firmly step on their career path.

Sharing the same opinion, Mr. Le Dac Lam affirmed: "Just change 1% every day, after one year, you will progress 37 times."

Mr. Le Dac Lam also emphasized: When you succeed in the future, young people should not be complacent or arrogant. When you fail, do not be discouraged or give up. Because everything changes.

“I hope that you will carry the four words “Study to change” – the slogan of Dai Nam University as your luggage to enter society, face challenges and difficulties. Winner or Loser is up to you to decide”.
