The days of "sowing happiness" of the "green shirt team" of Dai Nam University

With the spirit of “Wherever there is a need, there are young people, wherever there is difficulty, there are young people”, the green volunteer shirt has become a familiar image showing the pioneering role and dedication of Dai Nam University (DNU) youth to the community and society. Instead of resting on weekends and hanging out with friends; the DNU “green shirt squad” brings their youth and health to “sow happiness” at pagodas, nursing homes, and children’s villages…

Experience love on Sundays

The Student Volunteer Team (SVTN) under the Executive Board of the University Youth Union was established along with the process of building and developing Dai Nam University. It can be said that the Student Volunteer Team is a small family in the big family of Dai Nam University; a common home for many generations of students who love volunteer activities and participate in public service activities for society.

Here, you have "stood shoulder to shoulder" in many meaningful activities of the School and society such as: Love Cake, Traditional Camp, Green Summer, Warm Winter, Humanitarian Blood Donation, Job Fair, DNU Book Festival, etc.

Every month, the boys and girls are also connected, trained and fostered community responsibility through "Green Sunday". On Sundays in the last months of 2023, the green volunteer shirts of Dai Nam University will visit Dien Hong Nursing Home, Friendship Children's Village, Trinh Luong Pagoda, Thang Nghiem Quoc Tu Pagoda, Co Ngong Pagoda, etc.

At Dien Hong Nursing Home, the DNU SVTN Team weeded, cleaned, and cleared the outside area; cleaned the rooms, directly visited and performed with the elderly. Sharing from the previous generation helped the young people of Dai Nam University have a deeper perspective on the journey to becoming adults, the silence when growing up; love for family and friends; responsibility to society and the community.

Coming to the Friendship Children’s Village, the “blue shirt team” of DNU has time to get to know, encourage and support children in difficult circumstances. These disadvantaged lives not only inspire compassion and social spirit but also help young men and women appreciate life and what they have.

Let's capture meaningful moments with new people we just met.

On the weekends of November, the SVTN Team of Dai Nam University had the opportunity to visit Trinh Luong Pagoda, Thang Nghiem Quoc Tu Pagoda, and Co Ngong Pagoda. Here, members learned about historical stories; listened to monks chanting sutras; made offerings; cleaned and cleared the area around the pagoda.

In particular, at Trinh Luong Pagoda and Thang Nghiem Quoc Tu Pagoda, students assisted the monks in cooking porridge and distributing it for free to patients and their families at K Hospital. This is an activity with profound humanitarian meaning, expressing love, empathy, and sharing with society.

Cooking and distributing free porridge to the disadvantaged is also an annual activity of the DNU SVTN Team, called “Warm Porridge of Love”. After 8 seasons, Dai Nam’s “Warm Porridge” has reached thousands of poor workers and homeless people in Hanoi; spreading humanity, the spirit of mutual love and volunteerism of Dai Nam University youth.

Entering "Warm Porridge of Love" season 9, surely the SVTN DNU Team will bring more warm cups of porridge, full of love and respect to those in difficult lives.

Nguyen Thi Khanh Linh - K13 Pharmacy Faculty expressed: “Since participating in volunteer activities with the SVTN Team, I feel that life is more valuable when every thing I do has meaning. Just like when I give good things, happiness will surely smile at me. That urges me to want to give, to contribute more to life, to people.
