Turn every mistake into a tree – Raising discipline and environmental awareness for new students

In order to improve discipline in class and environmental protection awareness for K16 students, the Faculty of Training and Soft Skills Development has established a "green contract" in learning, converting all violations into green trees. This "contract" is both practical and consistent with the policy of building a "Green - Clean - Beautiful - Safe - Disciplined" learning environment of Dai Nam University.
Teachers and students sign a "learning contract"
Soft skills are one of the strengths in the training program of Dai Nam University. This is an attractive subject and leaves great impressions and lessons for all Dai Nam students.
“Attitude over qualifications” is the evaluation message of the Faculty of Training and Development of KNM in the past time. Accordingly, in each class, students absolutely comply with the regulations set forth by the Faculty. In particular, in the last semester, K16 students and teachers drafted and signed a “learning contract” to join hands in building a “clean” environment in both space and learning awareness.
The size of the tree represents the level of student misconduct in each class.
Violations such as: Being late for school; Using mobile phones; Working, talking privately; Falling asleep; Eating snacks; Littering; Using foul language; Leaving shoes on improperly; Not storing equipment and school supplies; Not bringing textbooks, notebooks; Paying fines late... are all agreed upon by the whole class in terms of fines (in money). At the end of the semester, the classes will total up the fines and convert them into decorative green trees in the KNM classroom.
The “repentance tree” punishment brings meaningful lessons to new students of K16
Each “repentance tree” sent to the “Garden of Confession” carries meaningful messages such as: the Happiness tree symbolizes warmth, joy, and happiness; the Dracaena fragrans tree brings vitality, freshness, and luck…
The classroom space is not only “covered in green” but also helps students reduce stress, become more comfortable and relaxed. From there, they achieve productivity in learning and create a sense of joy in life.
Discipline is the baggage that successful people always carry with them…
That was the sharing of Ms. Cao Thi Hoa - Vice Principal of Dai Nam University at the tree donation ceremony of the Faculty of Training and Development of Science and Technology.
At the award ceremony, Ms. Hoa also reminded the students: "When doing anything, remember this "learning contract" to remind yourself of discipline, goals and serious work."
Ms. Cao Thi Hoa and lecturers of the Faculty of Training and Development of KNM received the "repentance tree" sent by students to the "garden of admitting mistakes".
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy – Deputy Head of the Faculty of Training and Development of KNM shared: “What teachers expect is not to receive many green trees but to see the students change and mature every day. Every time they see green trees, they hope that they will be self-aware and remind themselves to be more serious and try harder in their studies…”
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy received a tree from her student.
Quach Thi Hong Hai - student of class TT 16.01 shared: "This is the strangest but most meaningful punishment for me so far. I feel like I have changed more positively, going to school on time, being serious in activities, knowing how to maintain hygiene; protecting my learning materials and equipment better."
“The garden of accepting mistakes – turning all mistakes into green trees” has left a beautiful impression and meaningful lessons for the students. “Good attitude – Good discipline” is also an important luggage for the new students of K16 to carry with them throughout their lives.
