What's special about the 2023 Love Cake program "Spring of connection - Tet of sharing"?

With the message “culture is national identity, culture is the nation”, Dai Nam University regularly organizes programs to find the roots, preserve and promote traditional cultural values to foster love and national pride for the staff, lecturers and students of the University. The meaningful cake - the program that creates the brand of Dai Nam University every Tet holiday is one of those meaningful activities. After 12 consecutive years, the meaningful cake has left many good impressions in the community, reminding everyone of the sacredness of the traditional Tet, the custom of wrapping banh chung, displaying the five-fruit tray, the family reunion, etc. These are all cultural identities of the Vietnamese people for generations.

“The banh chung cake not only reminds students of a dish that is a symbol of the nation’s culture but also makes them appreciate more a sacred product of the Tet holiday. Through this, the school wants to foster love and national pride, raise awareness of preserving and promoting the traditional culture of the Vietnamese people; at the same time, remind students to live responsibly towards the community and the country, to know how to share and help those who are less fortunate…”. To welcome the Spring of Quy Mao 2023, Dai Nam University continues to organize the 12th "Banh Nghia Tinh" program with the theme "Spring of connection - Tet of sharing" with many exciting and meaningful activities.

Teachers and students compete in wrapping banh chung, arranging fruit trays, and arranging flowers.

Banh chung, the five-fruit tray, and the flower vase on Tet holiday are traditional cultural features of the Vietnamese people. Banh chung represents gratitude to heaven and earth for favorable weather, bountiful crops, and a prosperous life; it is a gift from children to their parents to show filial piety. The five-fruit tray represents the morality of drinking water and remembering its source, and the respect for ancestors of every Vietnamese family.

With the contest of wrapping Chung cake, displaying five-fruit trays, and arranging flowers, students will understand the meaning of the traditional Tet holiday, demonstrate their ingenuity and creativity; at the same time, connect teachers and students, creating conditions for students to share and cooperate with each other.

Show strength through tug of war competition

Tug of war is a traditional game in Vietnam with a long history. Through this sport, the school not only wants to promote team spirit and strengthen the bond between colleagues, teachers and students, but also wants to promote the awareness of sports training throughout the school.

The tug of war competition will be held in many major programs of Dai Nam University; therefore, the losing team due to poor physical strength should not be discouraged but should turn it into motivation to practice and improve their physical strength to "win" prizes in the following programs. It can be said that tug of war is not only a game but also a chart to monitor the health and physical training will of Dai Nam teachers and students.

Immerse yourself in the cultural atmosphere of Tet

Not only do students learn about the old Vietnamese Tet customs, the present Vietnamese Tet, and the Vietnamese Tet of the three regions of the North, Central and South, they also have the opportunity to explore the Tet culture of other countries such as: Tet customs of Korea, Japan, China, England, etc.

Get health advice before the new year

Identifying that “health is the most valuable asset of human beings”, Dai Nam University always focuses on promoting physical education and health check-ups for students. To ensure that staff, lecturers and students have good health to welcome the Year of the Cat 2023; teachers of the Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy and Nursing will organize health consultations, distribute functional foods and supplements right in the program “Cake of Love”.

Go shopping for Tet, ask for calligraphy from the scholar right at school

Going to the Tet market is a custom that has been associated with Vietnamese people for generations. People go to the Tet market not only to shop but also to meet people and enjoy the exciting atmosphere when Tet comes. Accordingly, Dai Nam University students will visit the Hometown Assistance Gate, go “shopping for Tet” at the Countryside Market Booth, ask for lucky words from the calligrapher…

Folk games festival

At the program, students will return to their childhood with games such as: hopscotch, sack jumping, blindfolded pot smashing, etc. These activities not only create a lively atmosphere for the program but also help young people remember unique folk games.

Bringing "Warm Winter Love" to Thai Nguyen tea land

"Warm Winter Love" is an annual program of Dai Nam University every Tet holiday to express the spirit of mutual love, helping each other, sharing with those in difficult circumstances, helping them have complete joy when Tet is near.

This year, the program "Warm Winter Love" will bring practical gifts such as coats, thermos bottles, lined notebooks, socks, banh chung... to 75 students of Tam Hop Primary and Kindergarten, Lam Vy commune, Dinh Hoa, Thai Nguyen.

The event is scheduled for January 14-15, 2023.

“Warm Porridge” – Sending love to those in difficult circumstances

“Warm Porridge” with the message “A piece given, a thousand loves received” is a volunteer activity, educating community awareness for students. Through this activity, generations of students of Dai Nam University will learn to love, sympathize, and share with those in less fortunate circumstances; thereby having the motivation to study, and a correct and positive attitude towards life.

Each bowl of porridge is cooked with all the passion and love of the young people.

This year, "Warm Porridge" will start from mid-October 2022 and last until the end of January 2023 with 24 porridge batches, with a total cost of 8 million VND.

All porridge portions are carefully packaged and placed in styrofoam boxes to keep warm.

The 2023 “Spring of Connection – Tet of Sharing” cake will certainly bring memorable emotions and memories to all staff, lecturers and students of Dai Nam University.
