The Foundation English curriculum consists of four modules: English 1, 2, 3, and 4. Each module spans 3 credits and focuses on developing vocabulary, grammar, communication skills, and a positive learning attitude.
English 1: Provides a basic foundation, developing simple listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, and building confidence in using English.
English 2: Expands vocabulary and grammar, improves communication in familiar situations, and encourages daily English use.
English 3: Enhances communication skills, email writing, and comprehension of longer texts, while motivating independent English use.
English 4: Focuses on advanced grammar, academic vocabulary, and short essay writing, preparing students to use English in professional settings.
Students meet the learning outcome standard upon completing the English 4 module.
The curriculum is designed with a focus on practical communication, helping students comprehensively develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, ready to flexibly apply English in studies, work, and daily life.
The Faculty of Foundation English commits to an output standard equivalent to B3 according to Vietnam’s 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework (comparable to the intermediate level of the CEFR). Upon completing the program, students will be able to use English independently in studies, work, and daily communication, meeting the demands of integration and development.
The faculty’s teaching program employs modern methods, harmoniously blending theory and practice. Multimedia technology is actively applied to enhance learning effectiveness and provide engaging experiences for students.
Students learn and engage in a modern, comfortable environment within the 10-hectare green, clean, and beautiful campus of Dai Nam University.
The Faculty of Foundation English comprises 25 lecturers with master’s degrees in English language teaching and linguistics, possessing English proficiency at C1 level or higher according to the CEFR. With extensive teaching and research experience, the lecturers are passionate, responsible, and creative in their work. They have a deep understanding of modern teaching methods, particularly communication-based approaches, and are skilled in applying technology and designing materials tailored to learners’ needs, delivering effective and inspiring learning experiences for students.
