Many people are afraid of speaking English, but in fact learning to speak is the most interesting part of the four skills. Even if you know a little English, there are countless ways for you to speak and improve your speaking skills immediately. As long as you remember the following 10 tips when practicing this skill.

1. Talk, talk and talk
No matter how poor your vocabulary or pronunciation is, you should be confident and speak as much as possible when given the opportunity. No one will laugh at you if you make a mistake, on the contrary, they will be more enthusiastic to help you correct your mistakes. The only way to improve your fluency, vocabulary, etc. is to practice as much as possible. Remember that speaking is like playing music or playing sports in that the only way to get better is to do it.
2. Use technology
A smartphone can be a powerful tool for learning to speak. Whenever possible, record your own voice and listen to it to see how you sound. There are also many other apps that can help you organize your practice time or make notes of new words you need to learn during the day or week.
3. Listen
Regularly listening to English news or listening to songs is very effective for pronunciation skills. Besides, you also learn more vocabulary and expressions. The more you listen, the more you learn. When listening, try to imitate what you hear, from pronunciation, stress in words, in sentences, intonation of sentences...

4. Read aloud
Don’t be shy, you can do this when you’re alone. Pick up a magazine or newspaper and read the entire article out loud. If you have a favorite TV show or reality show, even look up the dialogue and read it out loud. This is a great way to practice pronunciation. Just focus on making your reading as accurate and expressive as possible, without worrying about word structure or grammar, as the material is considered a “model text”.
5. Learn a new word every day
Pick a new word that you want to learn that day, use it as much as possible in different sentences and contexts. Use it until you understand it well and then use it regularly in speaking.
6. Watch movies
Watch English movies without subtitles, not only for entertainment but also to concentrate on the words, phrases, and expressions that the actors say. You can review the subtitles later to check your listening ability. Also, to make what you have just learned your own, try to watch it a few times to imitate the pronunciation in the movie. This is really an interesting way to learn and you will never get bored.
7. Make friends
If you don’t have any friends who are really good at English, that’s a shame. Try to find some native English friends, or at least good English speakers. You will learn a lot by talking to them in English.
8. Do fun activities in English
Take a cooking class for English speakers, join an English book club, or an English speaking club. Whatever you enjoy doing, try to do it as long as it involves communicating in the language you want to learn. When you use English to talk about the things you love, you will find it much easier to speak.

9. Debate in English
Find a few like-minded friends, come up with a topic and debate it. Try to use as much vocabulary as possible to illustrate your point, and listen carefully to what others have to say. You will learn a lot from these activities.
10. Use online dictionaries
Any online dictionary has audio recordings of how words are pronounced. Whenever you are unsure about the pronunciation of a word, you can open the dictionary and look it up.
If you apply all the above tips, your speaking skills will definitely improve incredibly fast. However, the most important thing is still yourself. If you don't start now, you may never improve.
