How to calculate 2018 National High School Graduation Score
Are you preparing for the National High School Graduation Exam? When you have the score, you are wondering about how to calculate the score? This year, in 2018, how is the score calculated, is it different from 2017? How many points is required to graduate? How is the calculation of the 2018 National High School Graduation Score? Dai Nam University Admissions invites you to see details here.
Graduation score (GPA): includes the scores of the exams that candidates take to be considered for recognition of high school graduation according to regulations, priority and incentive points (if any) and the average score of the entire 12th grade year. Accordingly, the score of each exam is converted to a 10-point scale to calculate the GPA. The 2018 National High School Graduation Score is specifically regulated as follows.
Candidates who are eligible to take the exam, have not been disciplined at the level of exam cancellation or higher, all exams and component subjects of the combined exam for graduation recognition score above 1.0 point on a 10-point scale and have a GPA of 5.0 or higher are recognized as high school graduates.
Consideration of high school graduation recognition
After calculating the graduation score, the graduation score must be 5 points or higher to pass the graduation exam. In case the graduation score is below 5, you will not be able to retake the exam a second or third time but must wait to retake the exam next year.
Failing score of each independent test (on a 10-point scale): 1.0 point.
Failing score of each component subject (on a 10-point scale) of the combined exams: 1.0 point.
This year, the Ministry of Education has revised the scoring of essay tests: "Tests are graded on a 10-point scale; the odd points of the total score are rounded to 2 decimal places."
Thus, the only remaining essay subject in the 2017 national high school exam, Literature, will not be regulated to take up to 0.25 points as previously regulated. There will no longer be cases where different odd scores are converted to the same level at 0; 0.25; 0.5; 0.75 as before. That is, suppose in the case of a candidate getting 4.99, it will not be rounded up to 5 points and will be different from a candidate getting 5.01.
The 2018 National High School Exam consists of 5 exams, including 3 independent exams: Math, Literature, Foreign Language and 2 combined exams: Natural Sciences (a combination of Physics, Chemistry, Biology; abbreviated as KHTN), Social Sciences (a combination of History, Geography, Civic Education for candidates studying the High School Education program; a combination of History, Geography for candidates studying the High School Continuing Education program; abbreviated as KHXH).

Candidates can register to take both combined exams, the higher combined exam score will be selected to calculate the score for high school graduation recognition.
Note: Candidates who have registered to take both combined exams are required to take both exams; if a candidate skips one of the two exams, it will be considered that he/she has not taken enough exams and will not be considered for high school graduation recognition.
GDTX candidates can choose to take the Foreign Language exam as well. The score of this exam is used for admission to universities, colleges, and vocational schools; it is not used to calculate the score for recognition of high school graduation.
