Candidates for the 2016 national high school exam decreased by about 15%

The number of candidates taking the national high school exam this year decreased by about 10-15% compared to 2015. The number of candidates applying for university admission is also less than last year.

The above information was discussed by Deputy Minister of Education and Training Bui Van Ga on the sidelines of a conference on higher education held in Hanoi on the morning of June 8.

Mr. Ga said that the organization of this year's national high school exam is entering its final stage, with only a few weeks left until the exam takes place. Currently, the Ministry of Education and Training is reviewing the list of candidates transferred to the exam clusters to assign registration numbers.

"Details on the number of candidates taking the exam, the number of candidates registering for university admission and exam clusters nationwide are all available," said Deputy Minister Ga.

According to Deputy Minister Ga, this year, the exam clusters are evenly distributed throughout the country. Therefore, the number of candidates at each exam site is not large, and the work is also easier and not as difficult as last year.

In response to information that localities and universities sent to the localities to supervise exams are worried about travel and accommodation expenses for invigilators during the exam period, Deputy Minister Ga affirmed that localities do not have to worry when dispatching their teachers to the assigned locations.

"The state will cover the travel and accommodation expenses of the supervisors during their time on duty," Deputy Minister Ga informed.

Mr. Ga also said that currently, the leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training are inspecting a number of localities, especially difficult areas, to handle problems in organizing the upcoming national high school exam.

According to plan, the 2016 national high school exam will take place from July 1 to 4.
