National High School Exam 2016: Hanoi increases the number of candidates not taking the university entrance exam

For many students who are taking the national high school exam , History is a dry and difficult subject with too many events and figures to memorize. On Facebook, a 12th grade student is feeling tired and complaining: "I'm racking my brain" over the History exam. It has made me hate this situation so much, for months I have had to sit and learn by rote, but as I learn, the knowledge disappears, I can't remember anything...".

If memorization has never been an effective method for History, then here is one of the secrets to "swallowing" this subject sweetly?

1. Make the most of mind maps

Come on! Instead of holding the outline and studying it by heart until your throat is sore, from now on, try learning with a Mind Map, also known as a tree diagram. For each lesson, identify the basic content and related content, corresponding to the large branch and small branch drawings...

This way of learning helps you remember historical knowledge in the most systematic and logical way. Develop your drawing ability with vivid images and colors to remember it longer!

2. Link historical events to personal events

Admit it, are you going crazy trying to remember so many historical dates? Are the dates and times jumping around, even though you’ve read them over and over again trying to cram them into your head?

There is a very interesting secret to the history university entrance exam that you can apply: attach historical events to personal events, ensuring that you will remember them forever. For example, August 19, 1945 is the day of the general uprising to seize power in Hanoi, then August 19 is my mother's birthday; August 29 is the day I... confessed my love to my "girlfriend", so August 30, 1945 is the time when King Bao Dai abdicated, the feudal regime in Vietnam completely collapsed; The Vietnam Independence League was founded on May 19, 1941, the same day and month as Uncle Ho's birthday (May 19, 1890)...

Very interesting, right? With this way of learning, you will easily memorize important historical events; when you enter the exam room, no matter how nervous or anxious you are, you will not forget.

3. Write, write, write

Writing a lot will help candidates memorize historical knowledge quickly and remember it for a long time, not like rote learning. Pick up a pen and rewrite the knowledge you need to remember with high concentration, each time you rewrite is a time you engrave the knowledge deeply into your memory. Until, without even having to rack your brain, you can still write the answer smoothly as a habit. That is when you are truly ready to enter the exam room!

For historical events and data that are too complicated and difficult to remember, you can write them down on a pretty note and stick it in front of your desk; next to your computer screen... or any familiar place for easy observation every day. Surely, that complicated historical knowledge will enter your memory without you knowing it.

4. Don't be afraid of numbers

The horror of many students studying for the History exam is having to memorize dry, complicated numbers such as: Our army killed 2,293 enemies, 6,650 others were injured; shot down 59 planes, captured 3 tanks, 28 cannons... Many of you think that you need to memorize and accurately give these "bulky" and difficult-to-remember numbers to do well and get maximum score?

In fact, there are no answers and no examiner will check whether you have accurately counted the number of wounded enemies and the number of planes shot down. Therefore, do not put pressure on yourself by trying to memorize these numbers. In the exam, you only need to give relative numbers; give correct and complete ideas as required by the exam and you will be able to score points.
