Starting from August 1, candidates across the country began submitting applications for admission to universities and colleges. Although they have known the exam results as well as determined and learned about the threshold scores and quotas of the schools, many parents and candidates are still quite confused about choosing which school to have the highest chance of being admitted.

Parent Truong Van Dung (Ba Dinh) shared: "My son scored 24.5 points in the recent National High School Exam and is preparing his application to the Foreign Trade University. However, before that, he also took the Competency Assessment Exam of Hanoi National University and has now received the first admission notice from the school. Currently, the family plans to not enroll in the first round of the National University so that he can wait for the results from Foreign Trade."

However, Mr. Dung is also quite worried: "If he doesn't have enough points to get into Foreign Trade University, he will register for the second round of admission to the National University, but by then, I'm not sure if he can get in anymore."

Many parents and candidates are concerned and seek advice from university representatives during the Admissions Consulting Day.

Regarding this issue, Dr. Vu Viet Binh, Hanoi National University Examination Center, said that many parents and candidates are looking for admission options like “playing the stock market”. Candidates choose a safe school to ensure their chances of admission, and will still choose a school they like but are not confident about. Therefore, they do not dare to choose their favorite school as their first choice.

"Candidates and their families should not consider choosing a school like playing the stock market. Choosing a school and major should be based on the students' interests, abilities and real strengths, and parents need to guide their children accordingly. If they only rely on luck, it will only solve the problem of which university to go to, but it will not help them get into their favorite major. This year, you may fail, but you should review the exam so that next year you can get into the right school, and after graduating, you can do the right job that suits you, which will be very good," said Dr. Vu Viet Binh.
