On June 11, 2023, a group of scientific research students from the Faculty of Finance and Banking, Dai Nam University, in collaboration with a group of scientific research students from Phenikaa University, won the Third Prize in the 8th National Student Science Competition "Econometrics and Applications Olympiad" in 2023.
2023 is the second year that students of the Faculty of Finance and Banking, Dai Nam University, participate in the National Student Science Competition.
The 8th National Student Science Competition “Econometrics and Applications” organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association, the Academy of Finance and the Institute of Mathematics will be implemented from October 2022. The competition has the participation of 22 Universities and Academies nationwide.
In the context of digital transformation taking place strongly and having a profound impact on the economic and financial fields, a group of scientific research students from the Faculty of Finance and Banking, Dai Nam University conducted an interesting study on the impact of digital transformation on the business efficiency of Vietnamese joint stock commercial banks.
The research student group includes the following members: Nguyen Thuy Linh, Vo Thi Thu Phuong, Bui Thi Thuy Trang (in the same class TCNH15-01, Faculty of Finance and Banking, Dai Nam University), Vu Thi Lanh and Nguyen Thi Minh Hang (Phenikaa University). The research group members are supervised by Master Nguyen Van Duy (Phenikaa University) and Master Nguyen Thanh Trung (Dai Nam University).
This study focuses on measuring the level of digital transformation of banks from 2015 to 2021 based on text analysis of annual reports. The results of the study showed that digital transformation has a negative impact on bank performance, measured by return on assets and return on equity. At the same time, the study also found that the COVID-19 crisis situation increased bank profits.
After analyzing the research results, the group of students made comments on the status of digital transformation in Vietnamese joint stock commercial banks. In the first 5 years of the digital transformation process, negative impacts occurred due to difficulties in information technology infrastructure and human resource training programs. At the same time, the effective application of new digital technologies in business operations is also facing many challenges and needs special attention.
In 2022, the scientific research group of students from the Faculty of Finance and Banking, Dai Nam University won the Encouragement Prize at this Competition.
Nguyen Thuy Linh, a student representing the research team, shared: " We are very proud to receive third prize at the National Student Science Competition. This research not only assesses the impact of digital transformation on the banking industry, but also proposes solutions to enhance the operational efficiency of banks. Hopefully, our research will contribute to affirming the training quality at the Faculty of Finance and Banking, Dai Nam University and inspire students to participate in scientific research activities."
Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thi Lien, Vice Principal - Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Economic Sector, Dai Nam University, also expressed her pride: "This is a remarkable achievement of the group of students of the Faculty of Finance and Banking.
