The 2019 Dai Nam Blood Donation Program attracted a large number of staff, lecturers and students inside and outside the school to participate in voluntary blood donation.
The Dai Nam Red Drops Program 2019 was implemented by the Dai Nam University Youth Union in collaboration with Viet Duc Friendship Hospital and the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion on April 18 at Phu Lam facility and April 20 at 56 Vu Trong Phung facility.
Sharing with us, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy - Secretary of the Youth Union of Dai Nam University said: “ Giot Hong Dai Nam is an annual voluntary blood donation program of Dai Nam University. The program is organized to contribute to solving the shortage of blood in national blood banks, bringing life opportunities to patients in need of blood. The program also aims to educate the spirit of mutual love and affection, demonstrating the humane and noble gesture in each cadre, lecturer and student of Dai Nam University…”

Dai Nam Blood Donation is an annual voluntary blood donation program of Dai Nam University.
On average, the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion needs about 1,500 units of blood per day to meet the emergency and treatment needs of 180 hospitals in 26 provinces and cities in the Northern region. Blood type O alone needs at least nearly 700 units of blood per day. However, the amount of blood in the warehouse is only 7,000 units, with blood type O accounting for only 30% of the total blood reserve. In addition, the demand for blood tends to increase, especially during the holidays.
Voluntary blood donation is one of the ways to “rescue” the shortage of blood in blood banks, bringing a chance to live to patients in need of blood. Accordingly, if young people from 18 to 25 years old donate blood 4 times a year, the whole country will have enough blood for emergency and treatment. If women from 18 to 55 years old and men from 18 to 60 years old donate blood 2 times a year, there will be enough blood for treatment and emergency.

Donating blood is giving life.
Participating in the Dai Nam Red Drops 2019 program, Dai Nam staff, lecturers and students receive free health check-ups and consultations; are tested and know more about their health status, and are granted a voluntary blood donation certificate issued by the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion. In addition to the honorable value, voluntary blood donors are also compensated for the maximum amount of blood donated in case of an incident.
Nguyen Thi Cam Nhung – a student of the Faculty of Public Relations and Communication, Dai Nam University shared: “This is the first time I have participated in voluntary blood donation. I am very happy because my small act will bring opportunities and hope to patients in need of blood. I will definitely be more active in voluntary blood donation…”
Traveling more than 40 km from Hung Yen to Hanoi to donate blood, Hoang Thi Tuyet Nhung confided: "24 times donating blood, each time feels different, but I feel so happy when I do a good deed..."
