With nearly 15 years of experience in the education sector, Dr. Tran Hai Duong - Head of the Department of Korean Language and Culture at Dai Nam University (DNU) always considers teaching as a journey to accompany students in discovering Korean language and culture. For him, the classroom is not only a place to impart knowledge but also a space for students to awaken their passion, confidence and spirit of progress.

Dr. Tran Hai Duong has a solid academic background, having spent many years researching and studying at prestigious universities.

Dr. Tran Hai Duong graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Korean Language from the University of Foreign Languages - Vietnam National University, Hanoi; received a student exchange scholarship at Seoul National University (full scholarship), participated in the Korean language teacher training program at Korea University (Sejong Foundation scholarship), a Korean language course at Dongseo University (Korean Government scholarship), and completed a Master's and PhD in Korean Language and Culture at Sangmyung University (Korean Government scholarship).

Dr. Tran Hai Duong also participated in writing textbooks and translating outstanding literary works such as: Novels “Moonlight Drawn by Clouds”, “Happy House”, “Mailbox No. 110” ; short stories “Bicycle Thief”, “You Have Returned”…

Despite achieving many remarkable results, he still believes that the most valuable thing is not personal achievements but in helping students grow up and become confident.

The teacher is "terrible" devoted but loves his students very much

When talking about his work, he shared: “During the three years working at Dai Nam University, I have always felt the support from my colleagues and the efforts of my students. These are great sources of encouragement for me to continue to strive every day. DNU is not only a place to teach, but also a second home, where I can share my knowledge and passion with generations of young, enthusiastic students. Seeing you succeed, I feel like I am also living fully with the ideal of education.”

Students of the Korean Language and Culture Department always remember him as a “formidable” but very dedicated and friendly teacher. Not only imparting knowledge in class, he also regularly organized cultural exchanges, career orientations and encouraged students to boldly participate in exchange programs in Korea.

Pham Phuong, a student in class HQ 15-01, shared: “Mr. Duong is strict and very tough, but thanks to that, we have grown up a lot. He not only wants us to be good at languages but also to be confident, strong and responsible. When we encounter difficulties, he is always ready to help and encourage us. Thanks to him, we are more and more confident and progress.”

With the strictness of a teacher and the love of a father, he has become a shining example not only for students but also for colleagues.

Ms. Thanh Mai - Deputy Head of the Korean Language and Culture Department shared: "Even at university level, students still have their own personalities and are sometimes quite naughty. However, with a close and sincere approach, Mr. Duong always knows how to help students gradually change and become more positive in their studies. It is his strictness but full of affection that has created positive changes, helping students overcome their lazy habits and make progress every day."

Scholarship hunter for students

Study abroad scholarships open up practical and meaningful opportunities for students. Not only do they help them change their learning environment and access advanced education, scholarships are also the key to broadening their horizons, improving their professional skills and adaptability in an international environment. Receiving scholarships also helps students reduce their financial burden, as most of their study costs are covered. In particular, some programs also allow students to work part-time, helping them cover their living expenses, build their personal financial foundation and support their families.

Understanding the value of study abroad opportunities, Dr. Tran Hai Duong, with 11 years of studying in Korea, is always dedicated to finding scholarships and international experience programs for students. Based on his personal reputation and the cooperative relationship between Dai Nam University and Korean partners, Mr. Duong constantly strives to open up study opportunities in Korea not only for Korean language students but also for other majors.

Thanks to that, students can continue to study in an international environment, while expanding their knowledge and accessing valuable scholarship resources.

Students of the Korean Language and Culture Department of DNU received full scholarships from Chungang University – “benefiting” right at the cooperation signing ceremony.

Than Thi Tu - a student of class HQ 15-05, could not hide her gratitude: "Mr. Duong helped me and my friends confidently approach a multinational learning environment. His dedication to students is the biggest motivation that helps us to constantly strive."

Duong Thuy Linh - 2024 valedictorian of Dai Nam University said: “Professor Duong not only imparts knowledge but also creates opportunities for us to learn and experience in an international environment. Thanks to his guidance, I was able to participate in a student exchange program in Korea and then continue my Master's degree at Mokpo National University. He always asks questions and is ready to support us whenever we need it, helping me to be more confident on my journey. I am truly grateful to him for always encouraging and accompanying us.”

DNU is proud to have a teacher like Dr. Tran Hai Duong – a person who is always devoted to the growth and success of students. His dedication and love for the profession have continued to inspire and ignite the passion of a generation of young, aspiring students.
