Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Phong Dien commented that the number of candidates with high scores in 2015 was higher than in 2016. Currently, the enrollment target for 2016 has not decreased compared to 2015 (although the number of candidates taking the exam has decreased sharply). Therefore, the admission standard score will decrease in most of the top schools enrolling students in groups A and A1.

However, according to Mr. Dien, the source of admission for group A of middle-ranking schools (score 6-7) is still quite abundant, and the phenomenon of "virtual admission" will be quite common in schools outside the school groups because candidates can register for 2 schools.

Besides, according to Mr. Dien, the foreign language score is low, so candidates who register for admission according to the Math-Physics-Chemistry combination will have more advantages than candidates who register according to the Math-Physics-English combination.

Mr. Dien said that Hanoi University of Science and Technology predicts that the benchmark scores will decrease in all majors.

According to the score distribution announced by the Ministry of Education and Training on July 26, with this year's exam scores, except for exam groups D and D1 with an average score below 15, and exam group C with an average score of approximately 15, the remaining exam groups all have an average score above 15. This is because the score distribution of natural subjects such as Math, Physics, and Chemistry is skewed towards high scores, while the score distribution of English is skewed towards low scores.

The score distribution curves are very even and not steep, creating favorable conditions for schools to determine admission scores suitable for their targets.

According to information from some top schools such as Foreign Trade University, National Economics University, Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology, Commerce... this year's benchmark scores also fluctuated.

Specifically, with the score distribution of candidates this year, the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology informed that the standard score of the academy may decrease slightly compared to last year; Foreign Trade University accepts the lowest application score of 18 points. The lowest score for candidates to submit application is 18 points for Quang Ninh campus; the score for receiving application for Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City campuses is 22 points (group A) and 20.5 points (group A1, D1,2,3,4,6).

The University of Commerce has just announced that it will only accept applications from candidates whose total score of 3 subjects in one of the announced admission combinations, including priority points by region and subject, is at least 2.0 points higher than the threshold score to ensure input quality as prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training and no subject in the admission combination has a result of 1.0 (one) point or lower.

The National Economics University said that the admission scores for the school's majors and programs this year will decrease slightly, and there will be stronger grouping between majors and programs compared to 2015.
