High school graduation exam schedule 2023

The 2023 high school graduation exam will take place in the last week of June, instead of early July like last year.

Specifically, on June 27, candidates will complete exam registration procedures. Candidates will take graduation exams from June 28 to 29; June 30 is the backup date.

The high school graduation exam includes three independent tests: Math, Literature, Foreign Language, and two combined tests: Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and Social Sciences (History, Geography, Civic Education for candidates studying the general education program; or History, Geography for candidates studying the continuing education program).

Two years ago, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the high school graduation exam was scheduled to take place in July. This year, the pandemic has been controlled, so the Ministry of Education and Training decided to move the exam schedule earlier. Therefore, the university admission schedule is expected to be earlier than last year so that schools can start the new school year in early September.

In addition, this year, the Ministry of Education and Training adjusted a number of technical issues to strengthen exam discipline, according to the draft amendments to the high school graduation exam regulations announced in early January. Candidates are no longer allowed to bring recording or video recording devices into the exam room, but are only allowed to bring pens, pencils, compasses, erasers, rulers, calculators without text editing functions, and the Vietnam Geography Atlas (when taking the Geography exam). Candidates are also not allowed to leave the exam area after two-thirds of the test time has passed, but to stay in the waiting room for the remaining time. Another new point is that this year candidates can register for the exam online, in addition to registering directly at the school.
