Regulations on rounding scores of component subjects and subject combinations
The method of rounding the 2017 National High School Exam scores is clearly stated in the Regulations on National High School Exams and High School Graduation issued by the Ministry of Education and Training. Accordingly, the Literature exam (in essay form) will be graded on a 10-point scale, up to 0.25 points and will not be rounded.
For the remaining multiple-choice exams, the marking will be done on a marking machine with specialized software provided by the Ministry of Education and Training. The processing team is responsible for converting the computer scores to a 10-point scale, rounded to two decimal places for each multiple-choice exam.
Rounding test scores
Many candidates are unclear about how to round exam scores.
For the Math test with 50 multiple choice questions, each question will be worth 0.2 points. For the test with 40 questions, each question will be worth 0.25 points. Especially for the combined test with 120 questions, when converted to 10 points, each question will be worth 0.08 (3) points. The test score is multiplied by the number of questions the candidate answers correctly, then rounded to 2 decimal places (according to the rounding rules in mathematics). Specifically, if the candidate answers n questions correctly, the calculation formula will be: 10:120 x n and rounded to 2 decimal places.
The admission score for schools is the sum of the scores of 3 subjects according to the admission combination prescribed by the school for that major, plus the priority points for subjects and regions, and is rounded to two decimal places, then rounded in steps of 0.25. The rounding principle is to divide 0.25 by 2, to get 0.125. If the score is below this level, it will fall to the lower level, if it is from this level or higher, it will be raised to the upper level.
The specific method for rounding the combined scores of admission subjects is as follows :
  • 0.00 to 0.12 to 0.00
For example: A candidate who scores 18.11 points will be rounded to 18.00.
  • 0.13 to 0.24 to 0.25
For example: A candidate who scores 18.22 points will be rounded to 18.25.
  • 0.26 to 0.37 to 0.25
For example: A candidate who scores 18.28 points will be rounded to 18.25.
  • 0.38 to 0.49 to 0.50
For example: A candidate who scores 18.44 points will be rounded to 18.50.
  • 0.51 to 0.62 to 0.50
For example: A candidate who scores 18.54 points will be rounded to 18.50.
  • 0.63 to 0.74 to 0.75
For example: A candidate who scores 18.67 points will be rounded to 18.75.
  • 0.76 to 0.87 to 0.75
For example: A candidate who scores 18.82 points will be rounded to 18.75.
  • 0.88 to 0.99 to 0.00
For example: A candidate who scores 18.89 points will be rounded to 19.00.
