Instead of being nervous and excited to go to the lecture hall after the summer break; "face to face" teaching, studying, and researching, DNU teachers and students started the new school year 2021-2022 on the MS Teams application.

Adapt faster and more proactively

Recognizing the complexity of the Covid-19 pandemic and the possibility of prolonged online learning, Dai Nam University has directed all specialized faculties to develop online teaching plans for approval by the Board of Directors; quickly change and adapt to online teaching and learning with the most proactive and creative mindset possible.

After 4 implementation phases, DNU's online teaching and learning has become systematic, systematic and effective, no less than offline.

100% of lecturers participating in online teaching at Dai Nam University are well trained in using software and support tools; how to convert lectures from offline to online; online teaching methods to create excitement for students; online classroom management skills; appropriate testing and evaluation methods...

Drawing on experience from practical implementation, the School has developed and issued detailed and specific regulations on online teaching and learning, requiring all lecturers and students to implement them under the supervision of the Training Department, Student Affairs Department, and Faculty Leaders to ensure the quality of teaching and learning. The Training Department, Examination and Quality Assurance Department, Student Management Department, IT Team, homeroom teachers, etc. are on duty 24/7 to support and help lecturers and students quickly resolve issues regarding timetables, lecture quality control, interaction between teachers and students, transparency and objectivity in assessment, technology, class size, etc.

Mr. Luong Cao Dong - Principal of Dai Nam University said: “After 4 implementation phases, DNU's online teaching and learning has become systematic and disciplined. Both teachers and students have become familiar with this form of teaching and learning. Therefore, the new school year 2021-2022 was started with a much more proactive and positive mindset…”

Learning to change and change starts with teaching

Mr. Vu Van Tuan - Deputy Head of the Department of Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy shared: “At first, I myself encountered many difficulties in controlling students' concentration, changing lectures, changing testing and evaluation methods. I think students also encountered many difficulties, from equipment, transmission lines to learning materials. However, the deeper we go, the more ways to solve them, and the pressure is gradually reduced. Teachers and students have become familiar and increasingly interested in online teaching and learning. Learning to change and change starts with the way of teaching and learning.”

"High-end" online learning software supports turning on multiple cameras without worrying about lag from Dai Nam students.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh - lecturer of the English Language Department confided: “In the current epidemic context, online is the most optimal and long-term alternative. Personally, I have proactively learned and consulted many support tools for online lectures, applied them to my class and found that online teaching is not really boring, on the contrary, it is very interesting. Whether online or offline, if both teachers and students pay attention, the best results will still be achieved…”

Intimate and close – powerful weapons to keep students until the last minute

Ms. Pham Thi Dung - lecturer of the Faculty of Tourism believes that, in addition to maintaining a style of dress like a focused class, turning on the camera throughout the class, opening each lesson with thought-provoking images, preparing many questions for students to interact with, the intimacy and closeness of the lecturer is a powerful "weapon" to keep students interested until the last minute.

Exciting online learning atmosphere of teachers and students of the Faculty of Tourism.

“Where are you? Is anyone still listening to me? Are you all asleep? I have a question for you to answer… Those are the interactive sentences I often use to manage my online class. Every time I ask like that, the classroom atmosphere becomes more lively. Smiles appear and we stop to interact with the knowledge in the lecture. Teachers and students are so enthusiastic about the content of the lesson from the first period to the last period, sometimes looking up at the clock and seeing that the time is up…”

Lecturers must constantly upgrade their technological capabilities.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy - Deputy Head of the Department of Training and Soft Skills Development, the effectiveness of an online lesson depends largely on the lecturer's ability to use technology. Therefore, the first key issue is that lecturers must upgrade their own technological capabilities. "When teaching offline, lecturers have very few opportunities to learn, update and apply modern technological tools to lectures to enhance the effectiveness of the lesson. On the contrary, when teaching online, both lecturers and students have supporting technological tools. Therefore, the quality of teaching will be more effective due to the great support from the tools as well as the devices of both learners and teachers..."

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy, online learning is and will be an inevitable trend in education. The important thing here is one's attitude towards learning, being proactive in learning, not the form of learning. Teachers need to proactively find new, more attractive and creative methods to improve the effectiveness of lectures, develop themselves, enhance their values, and adapt to the times...

What do DNU-ers say about online learning?

“When I first started studying online, I also encountered many difficulties with listening to lectures and controlling my concentration. However, with the enthusiasm of the teachers and my own efforts, studying online is no longer difficult. I have had many good experiences when studying in this form. Online practical learning still has many limitations due to not being able to directly participate in practice, but teachers have more time to present diverse clinical situations for students to analyze together, to understand the problem more clearly and thoroughly. The epidemic is not what we want. However, everything must continue to happen. As long as we try our best, turn those difficulties into motivation to rise up, everything will still go well…” Nguyen Thanh Tam - student of class YDK 14-01, Faculty of Medicine shared.

Nguyen Thanh Tam - student of class YDK 14-01 has had many good experiences when studying online.

Nguyen Hung Cuong - a student of class YDK 14-02, Faculty of Medicine said: “When studying online, I feel very comfortable because I can study anywhere, especially at my own home, without having to travel. Moreover, when studying alone at home, I am not affected by external influences, can concentrate on listening to lectures and study more effectively. Of course, it is still inevitable that there are disadvantages such as sometimes poor internet connection causing interruptions in learning, or there is no close connection between lecturers and students, between students with each other. However, in the current situation, this is the most reasonable form of study and is increasingly overcoming weaknesses. I am very happy to approach this new form of study and am very excited every time I go to class…”

"I am very happy to approach this new form of learning and very excited every time I go to class.." Nguyen Hung Cuong - student of class YDK 14-02 shared.

Lam Cuc Phuong - Student of QHCC class 12 - 01, Faculty of Communication excitedly said: "Although online learning does not have direct interaction between teachers and students, between members of the homework group, but with the unique teaching method and enthusiasm of the teachers, it has brought interesting lessons to help students get interested and excited in the class"

DNU students are eager to start the new school year with online learning.
