Items allowed in the exam room in 2016

The Ministry of Education and Training said that the regulations for the 2016 National High School Exam are basically the same as those in 2015. Candidates need to understand the exam regulations, paying special attention to the regulations on whether or not to bring items into the exam room, lest they "unfairly fail" due to violating the regulations.

Candidates are only allowed to bring into the examination room: Pens, pencils, compasses, erasers, rulers, calculators without text editing functions and no memory cards; Vietnam Geography Atlas for the Geography exam (published by Vietnam Education Publishing House, no markings or additional writing allowed).

For this year’s exam, the Ministry of Education and Training continues to allow candidates to bring audio and video recorders that only record information but cannot transmit information and cannot receive live audio and video signals without other supporting devices. In addition, candidates need to bring their ID card and exam card.

According to regulations, handheld calculators allowed in the exam room must not have text editing functions (such as note-taking, phone number recording, etc.) and must not have an additional memory card inserted.

List of popular handheld calculators that can perform arithmetic, trigonometry and advanced calculations that candidates are allowed to bring into the examination room include:

Casio FX 95, FX 220, FX 500A, FX 500 MS, FX 500 ES, FX 500VNPlus, FX 570 MS, FX 570 ES and FX 570 ES Plus, VinaCal 500MS, 570 MS and 570 ES Plus, Vietnam Calculator VN-500RS; VN 500 ES; VN 570 RS, VN 570 ES; Sharp EL 124A, EL 250S, EL 506W, EL 509WM; Canon FC 45S, LS153TS, F710, F720; and equivalent calculators.

Candidates are not allowed to bring into the examination room : Weapons, explosives, flammable substances, alcoholic beverages, carbon paper, erasers, documents, communication devices or information storage devices that can be used to cheat during the examination and marking process.

Another point worth noting is that in the recent 2015 high school graduation or national high school exams, many candidates were suspended from the exam because they brought devices that were not allowed into the exam room, mainly mobile phones. According to regulations, candidates who are discovered bringing mobile phones into the exam room, whether they are in use or turned off, will still be ticketed, suspended from the exam, and will not be allowed to graduate from high school.
