Join hands for Quang Ninh
The biggest historical flood in the past 50 years due to unusually heavy and prolonged rains has caused the people of Quang Ninh province to suffer serious consequences in both human and property. To help and support the people of Quang Ninh, with the consent of the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee of the Youth Union of Dai Nam University, the Student Volunteer Team (SVTN) has organized the program "Joining hands for Quang Ninh", calling for the support of kind-hearted people to help the people of Duong Huy commune, Cam Pha; contributing to alleviating the difficulties and losses of the people of Quang Ninh after the flood.
Although it was summer vacation (most of the teachers and students were not present at school), when the program "Joining hands for Quang Ninh" was called by the SVTN Team, in just 3 days (starting from August 2-4, 2015), the SVTN Team received a donation of 5,390,000 from teachers and students of Dai Nam University and other individuals and groups in society. This amount of money was used by the SVTN Team to buy 400kg of rice and 6 cartons of milk to give to the families. On August 11, 2015, three volunteer students and some Dai Nam students from Cam Pha came to give 20 gifts to 20 poor households, families of war invalids and martyrs... who suffered heavy losses due to floods. Each gift included 20kg of rice and 3 cartons of Fami milk to 20 poor households who suffered heavy losses in Duong Huy commune.
The SVTN Team has used the donated money to buy 400kg and 6 cartons of milk to give to the people.
It took 5 hours to travel from Hanoi to Cam Pha, and another 2 hours for the group to travel to Duong Huy commune. The devastation caused by the historic flood made travel more difficult, but that could not dampen the will and enthusiasm of Dai Nam students. Everyone felt happy to contribute, bringing gifts to the people of Duong Huy commune, hoping to help and ease the pain of loss caused by the flood.
The commune roads were damaged a lot, some places are still flooded.
