At the University of Industry, Mr. Kieu Xuan Thuc - Head of the school's Training Department said: In Mathematics, the results showed that many students got 9 to 9.25 points, and fewer got 9.5 to 9.75 points. Notably, there were 1-2 students who got a perfect score of 10 in this subject.
“According to the feedback from the subject head, the exam questions have very good differentiation. In addition, the overall quality of candidates this year is also better, with more scores from 6 onwards. The exam questions also help to classify candidates well.
For example, there are candidates who scored 9 in Math, but few who scored 10 or 9.5 or later. This is very good for universities in admissions, avoiding the situation where there are too many candidates with high scores, schools will have to use secondary criteria, or main exam scores to solve the problem of recruiting enough quotas" - Mr. Thuc said.
In 2016, Hanoi University of Industry mobilized 150 examiners, half of whom were lecturers of the school, the rest were teachers from surrounding high schools such as Hoai Duc and Dan Phuong districts.
The examiners are mainly in Math, Literature, and Foreign Language. The History and Geography exams have very few papers, so the number of invigilators is smaller.
As of July 12, according to Mr. Thuc, the quality of the candidates' exams compared to last year is higher. This is also reasonable when the exam cluster organized by Hanoi University of Industry in Nam Dinh is a province with good education quality, among the top in the country.
Many failed posts
An examiner marking the Math exam at a local examination cluster said that through the graded exams, the majority of the exams had scores below 5, with very few having scores above 6-7, and no exam had scores of 8-9. Many students had failed exams (below 1 point).
"Candidates who get zero points are candidates who get most of the questions wrong. We also try to find the right answer to give points but the total is still not enough to overcome the zero point. When faced with such cases, the examiner also struggles a lot. However, the examiner's point of view is to give the correct score based on the answer's score" - this examiner said.
This person also explained that because this exam cluster has many candidates who are students at continuing education centers, the scores are not as high as expected. "When I went to supervise the exam at a local exam council, I met many candidates who were over 40 years old. It is very difficult for such candidates to maintain the knowledge they have learned. Besides, the exam supervision this year was also carried out very seriously."
This examiner also said that in this year's Math exam, the last 3 questions were difficult, so in local examination councils, few candidates could do them. Explaining the mistakes that caused candidates to lose points, this examiner said that the ways in which candidates lost points this year were "multi-faceted", even on easy-to-scoring questions.
"Many questions in the test are very easy but require comprehensive knowledge to answer correctly. Not to mention many cases of mistakes or omissions... we do not dare to give points" - this examiner said.
