From April 1, 12th graders began to apply for the National High School Exam and University and College Admissions in 2018, however many students had to redo their applications. Below are common mistakes that students make when applying and solutions to help students avoid making those mistakes.

1. Enter the wrong industry code

When applying for the 2018 National High School Exam, when filling out the National High School Exam Registration Form and University, College, and Vocational College Admission Form, item 21, candidates applying to universities must write down the major code and university code they want to apply to.

The 2018 university major code has changed compared to last year: the first 2 characters of the major code last year were 52, this year they are replaced by 7.

When looking up the admission code, students should note that if the code starts with 52, it is the old code. The correct code for this year starts with 5.

For example, the major code of the economics major at the National Economics University is: 7310101.

Many students, when filling out their application, will look at the previous year's benchmark score to apply for a major that suits their academic ability and then use the major code in the previous year's benchmark score to fill out the application, leading to incorrect application.

To correctly fill in the university admission code in section 21 of the 2018 registration form, students can look it up here.

2. Do not fill in phone number and Email or email is incorrect.

In section 7 of the registration form, when registering information, students must enter the correct phone number and email to avoid entering the wrong phone number or email, the system will send the wrong security confirmation code.

Especially for students who need to adjust their online admission registration, they need to register their personal mobile phone number to receive a one-time password (OTP) via text message to ensure security when registering online.

3. Fill in the wrong code types

In the 2018 national high school exam application form, students will fill in codes including Department of Education code, exam cluster code, province, district, commune code as well as high school code.

- Department of Education code and exam cluster code (Look up department of education code and exam cluster code here )

- Province/District/Commune code (Look up commune/District/Province code here )

- High school code (Look up high school code here )

In section 5: Permanent residence: province code, district code, commune code. Please note that candidates who are not from disadvantaged communes do not have to fill in the commune code.

4. Fill in the wrong admission area

In the student recruitment area section, students need to pay attention to choose their correct recruitment area according to the latest regulations of 2018. Last year, many students passed and failed due to filling in this information incorrectly. Therefore, students should pay attention:

-Update your exact area (Kv1, KV2, KV2-NT, KV3..) according to the area in 2018: Look up the area here

- Update policy on recording enrollment area by high school or by household registration: Here

5. Save the login account for the exam management software

After submitting the exam registration form, candidates will be given an account and password by the exam registration unit to log in to the exam management software. Candidates need to keep their account and password carefully. Many candidates, after being given the account and password, did not save it and lost their account and could not log in to the Ministry of Education's system to view important information.
