On the morning of March 21, the Ministry of Education and Training organized a training course on exam organization and use of the 2016 national high school exam management software system for the host universities and schools coordinating university exam clusters.
At the conference, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the draft on guidelines for organizing the national high school exam and considering recognition of high school graduation, and guidelines for organizing university and college admissions in 2016.

Training conference on professional skills for the 2016 national high school exam took place in Ho Chi Minh City
Accordingly, the Ministry of Education and Training has announced the application form, instructions for candidates to prepare documents and detailed exam schedule for subjects of the national high school exam .
National High School Exam
The Ministry of Education and Training requires the Departments of Education and Training to decide on the units receiving the exam registration (DKDT) to ensure convenience for candidates. Candidates submit their application for the exam at high schools and continuing education centers. The Department of Education and Training can set up additional registration reception points for independent candidates. The Ministry of Education and Training arranges a registration unit in the South at the Ministry of Education and Training's representative office in Ho Chi Minh City (only receiving registration files of independent candidates for university and college admission). The registration units are high schools that collect the registration files of candidates belonging to their units and collect the registration files of independent candidates when assigned by the Department of Education and Training.
Registration deadline:
From April 1 to April 30 , the registration points will collect registration documents including two DKDT forms, a photocopy of both sides of the ID card on one side of A4 paper, two 4x6 photos and an envelope with the candidate's full name and address in the application bag according to the form of the Ministry of Education and Training.
On April 30 , candidates are not allowed to change exam clusters and information about registered exams.
From April 1 to May 30, the registration units will collect the High School Graduation Recognition Registration Form and the accompanying High School Graduation Recognition Application.
When completing the exam registration procedures, candidates must have an ID card. Departments of Education and Training and high schools instruct students to have an ID card before submitting the Exam Registration Form.
Candidates who wish to apply for university and college admission online must register their phone number and email when registering.
Contest conditions:
Candidates who complete high school in the year of the conduct exam must have a conduct rating of average or higher, and must not be classified as having poor academic performance. Continuing education students must not be classified as having unsatisfactory conduct or poor conduct.
Independent candidates who have not graduated from high school: have graduated from middle school. In case they are not eligible to take the exam last year due to poor academic performance, they must register and take the final exam at the high school where they studied grade 12 or registered for training and achieve the results that meet the academic requirements according to regulations.
In case of not being eligible to take the exam in previous years due to poor conduct in grade 12, there must be confirmation from the People's Committee of the commune where you reside.
High school graduates are eligible to take the exam.
Subjects and exam format
- Organize exams in 8 subjects: Math, Literature, History, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Foreign Language.
- Math, Literature, History, Geography are tested in essay format; Physics, Chemistry, Biology are tested in multiple-choice format; Foreign languages are tested in written and multiple-choice format. The Literature test has 2 parts: Reading comprehension and writing.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the university exam cluster will have at least 50% of the exam invigilators from the host school, 20% of the school staff coordinating, and the rest will be high school teachers.
The graduation exam cluster has at least 50% of exam invigilators and 50% of exam room supervisors from universities and colleges.
Regarding the priority policy in the high school graduation exam, it is basically stable as in 2015 (priority and incentive points). The new point this year is to add the subject of "regular education students participating in the intermediate program combined with the cultural program according to the high school regular education program" to receive incentive points when having a vocational certificate.
University entrance exam cluster: each province and city organizes at least one university entrance exam cluster in the provincial capital; all candidates (with different exam purposes) can register at the university entrance exam cluster. This exam cluster is organized by the university in coordination with the Department of Education and Training.
Graduation exam cluster: based on the actual situation, the Provincial People's Committee decides whether or not to organize a graduation exam cluster; organized at inter-school schools. This exam cluster is for candidates who use the exam results only to recognize high school graduation; the Department of Education and Training presides over and coordinates with the University to organize.
Key milestones of the 2016 national high school exam
- Registration period: from April 1 to April 30
- Exam cluster completes exam room arrangement: before June 10
- Return exam notice to candidates: before June 15
- Complete grading: before July 20
- Complete graduation recognition review: before July 25
- Print and return exam result certificate: before July 30
- Candidates register for university and college entrance exams: from August 1
- End of admission: October 20 (University), November 15 (College).
