On May 14, there will be a trial test for the national high school exam.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Bui Van Ga said the above when talking with leaders of the Department of Education and Training of Ninh Binh province while inspecting the preparation for the national high school exam here today, May 10.

"Each examination room has 24 different exam codes, so the departments can use that as a basis to visualize the amount of work and facilities needed to prepare for printing and copying exam papers," Deputy Minister Bui Van Ga noted.

During the working session in Ninh Binh, Mr. Tran Van Nghia, Deputy Director of the Department of Testing and Education Quality Assessment, shared: This year's exam has a common concern because the number of subjects is larger, each candidate in an exam room has a separate exam code. Therefore, the number of copies must also be larger because the multiple-choice exam is longer than the essay exam.

Mr. Tran Van Nghia said that the printing process has been clearly regulated, the Ministry has provided training, however, the Ministry will have additional documents with very clear notes on the printing and copying of exam papers. Each locality will develop a plan and process for printing and copying exam papers. Prepare human resources and facilities to do this work.

How should we arrange for independent candidates?

With this year’s new regulations, in the combined exam sessions, independent candidates may not be able to take all the component exams. This leads to the exam clusters and exam locations having to anticipate all situations to ensure the convenience of candidates but also not cause chaos and lack of safety for the entire exam area.

“The role of the Department of Education and Training this year is very heavy because the department is in charge of the exam but the exam is still used for two purposes: high school graduation and university admission. In previous years, complaints from candidates were all related to university admission. The Ministry of Education and Training will have a set of documents to disseminate and guide in the exam room, each exam room will have a set like this for reference and application,” Mr. Nghia shared.

Whether or not to arrange independent candidates at one testing site is the concern of the Ninh Binh Department of Education and Training in discussions with the Ministry of Education and Training, and this is also the concern of many other provinces and cities.

“A test site with about 10 independent candidates may immediately have to arrange 3 test rooms for this group. Hanoi also arranges independent candidates in a centralized test site, otherwise the number of test rooms will increase to more than 100,” Mr. Nghia suggested considering arranging independent candidates in the same site.

Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training, also said that independent candidates should be concentrated in one location to avoid complications and errors in the exam process.

Regarding the above proposal, Mr. Vu Van Kiem, Director of the Ninh Binh Department of Education and Training, said that there is no plan to bring independent candidates to one location. The whole province has more than 600 independent candidates and is considering a plan for independent candidates with registered residence in which district to take the exam in that district.

However, Mr. Kiem said he would consider further the suggestion of the working group of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Don't take too many practice tests.

"The trial test is the most basic document for schools to review for their students. They should not organize too many trial tests, which is unnecessary," Deputy Minister Bui Van Ga noted that the Departments of Education and Training should disseminate this to candidates.

Mr. Ga also suggested that educational institutions advise candidates not to adjust their wishes too much if the exam results do not differ too much from the previous year's benchmark scores of the school they registered for.

The Department of Education and Training will be responsible for announcing the exam results. Good preparation in information technology will not lead to network congestion.

Ninh Binh has a total of 9,047 candidates registered for the exam, of which 6,140 candidates want to take the university entrance exam; 2,907 candidates only want to take the high school graduation exam. The number of candidates registered for the optional exam is 8,683, of which 39.49% of candidates choose the natural science exam, 5,222 candidates choose the social science exam; the number of candidates registering for both exams is 226.

Regarding the exam supervision, Ninh Binh has 25 exam locations, the farthest of which is about 45km from the city center. According to the assignment of the Ministry of Education and Training, staff and lecturers from the University of Commerce and Hoa Lu University will support Ninh Binh in all stages of the exam.
