Be "satisfied with the wandering spirit"

Unlike some other professions, PR professionals can choose to work for a company or freelance in this field. Most freelance PR professionals are young, adventurous, and able to work independently. The advantage of being a freelance PR professional is that you are not constrained by time. Therefore, if you are a student, you can completely arrange your schedule so as not to affect your studies, while gaining a lot of practical experience by working in many different fields and companies.
Many students start their PR careers from small events at school, clubs, etc. Taking on PR for an event or program requires you to participate in many different tasks such as: planning to promote the image, implementing actions, considering the crisis and finding ways to solve it... Therefore, PR allows you to maximize your creativity to come up with ideas for communication plans, while also giving you a lot of different experiences and skills.

PR students practice event organization skills through real events while still at school.

Dinh Huy (Dai Nam University) is currently working part-time as a PR for an event organization company. He shared: “PR workers must be highly creative, dynamic, and confident in front of a crowd. In addition, you also need to have a certain knowledge base about the profession and society. That is why, for Huy, the PR profession always brings new, exciting challenges and is never boring.”
Lan Anh (Academy of Journalism and Communication) shared: “The most important thing I learned from working in PR is how to build relationships and maintain and develop existing relationships. Building a wide network of relationships will give you a huge advantage in modern society.”

Hot job, "huge" income

Not only satisfying the dynamism, exploration and self-challenge of young people, PR is also a profession that can bring in very high income. According to the Vietnam Advertising Association, our country currently has about 7,000 advertising companies. The booming development of media corporations and event organizing companies has made hundreds of thousands of businesses "crave" PR personnel day and night. Therefore, businesses are willing to pay extremely high salaries for suitable PR personnel.
Thuy Trang (Dai Nam University) said that your income from freelance PR work is quite high, depending on the time, location and nature of each marketing plan, usually ranging from 500,000 - 1,000,000/event. This is a fairly stable part-time income for students. The average income for new PR graduates is from 200 to 400 USD/month - a fairly high level compared to other professions. In addition, if you are promoted to higher levels such as senior specialist, department head, PR director... then the income you receive can range from 1,000 - 5,000 USD/month.

Planning and organizing events yourself helps PR students gain more experience and skills.

Despite being willing to pay high salaries, most PR companies have difficulty finding staff, as the supply of media human resources has not met the demand. Very few people working in the PR industry have graduated from PR majors, but mainly come from other majors such as journalism, foreign languages, economics or have only undergone a short PR course, and there are even people working in PR without having undergone any training.

To meet the demand for studying PR and advertising, many educational institutions have opened additional PR majors or short-term training courses, partly solving the urgent need for human resources for this industry. If in the past you could only study this major at the Academy of Journalism and Propaganda, in recent years Dai Nam University has emerged as one of the few schools that provide quality PR training. The Public Relations major (Dai Nam University) is trained in depth in skills, practical time, practice accounts for 50% of the subject time. Right from the time of studying specialized subjects, Dai Nam students not only participate in regular extracurricular activities, scientific research... but also go to businesses, organizations to conduct field surveys, participate in the actual work of a PR staff.

Dr. Le Thi Nha, Head of the Department of Public Relations and Communications, Dai Nam University, said: “Currently, the PR-05 class has graduated. 100% of them have found jobs. Many of them have found jobs at companies and businesses in Hanoi even before they graduated. Some of them have been offered jobs at the very units where they have participated in practice and internship during their studies.”

With a promising future, it is easy to understand why PR is a trendy career for young people, and is also a major that is predicted to be very "hot" in the 2016 admissions season.
