Concerns in every admission period
According to the General Statistics Office, the unemployment rate of working-age workers in our country showed signs of increasing in the first quarter of this year at 2.25%, in the second quarter it increased to 2.29% and in the third quarter it was 2.34%. The unemployment rate has fluctuated in recent years, with the numbers gradually increasing year by year compared to the previous year, causing confusion for candidates. Along with that, the university entrance rate has also gradually decreased and the cause all comes from the common mentality of "fear of unemployment".
However, according to the report of the Ministry of Health, the pharmaceutical industry is in a state of shortage of quality labor to meet the actual demand for expanding the scale of clinics and hospitals due to the increasing number of diseases. This is probably good news for those who are passionate about pursuing becoming a pharmacist in the future. So, the question is whether candidates should choose to study pharmacy at non-public universities or not when their personal capacity cannot be admitted to major universities?

Studying at a public or private school is not important, what is important is the learning environment and career development opportunities.
In fact, many universities and colleges currently offer Pharmacy courses but do not focus on practical aspects of the industry. The curriculum is still heavily theoretical, so students are not able to work at the most basic level in the profession. Therefore, candidates need to be wise in choosing the institution to study, learn about the school's history, training system, practical activities and job opportunities after graduation.
Is the quality of training in Pharmacy at non-public universities good?
Today’s society still has many prejudices against non-public universities, especially those concerned with training quality and employment opportunities. However, nowadays, businesses are concerned with practical working capacity and professional skills, not through university degrees.
In the current training program, many non-public universities are very active in student activities, investing more carefully in facilities and equipment to serve the teaching and learning process. In particular, the knowledge system is still within the framework of the university training program, so students are thoroughly equipped with professional knowledge, majors, group activities and internships to ensure that students can have solid background knowledge and skills after enough time to graduate.
“In recent years, the demand for human resources in the pharmaceutical industry has been increasing, not only in the university training system but also in the joint training system. Training programs at some non-public universities have focused more on training quality according to the curriculum framework standards, focusing on practical practice for student development as the top priority. Schools not only focus on professional knowledge foundations, but also on practical soft skills such as communication skills, teamwork skills, analytical skills, etc. and students' foreign language ability must reach at least TOEIC 450 to be able to meet the job requirements well”, shared Dr. Pham Van Nguyen, former Director of the Center for Pharmaceutical Science and Technology, Vietnam Pharmaceutical Corporation, Head of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dai Nam University.
From the current reality of the pharmaceutical industry's job needs, studying at a public or non-public university is not important, what is important is how that training environment will help us in our work after graduation. Candidates need to carefully research the training quality through the training program, facilities, extracurricular activities and job opportunities after graduation, etc.
