1. Introduction
In 2008, Senator Barack Obama officially became the “boss” of the White House. With an ordinary background but with extraordinary efforts, Obama became the 44th President, also the first black President of the land of the stars and stripes, making the whole of America and the world admire.
“Change will not come if we wait for someone else or wait for some other time. We are the ones we are waiting for. We are the change we are looking for.” This is the philosophy of life that has followed him throughout the election campaign, bringing him the “throne” of power, and at the same time opening up many thoughts: striving to create change with one’s own inner strength.
2. Body
2.1. Explanation of the statement
“Change”: changes, new things that are different, usually in a more positive direction than the old.
=> Using the hypothetical-result relationship "if", "or if" and the affirmative expression "is", "is", the sentence has pointed out the conditions to bring about positive changes in life: change does not come from anyone else or another time, it is the inner strength within each person that is the source of change.
2.2. The cause of change comes from the inner strength of each individual?
- Objective
+ In life, you cannot always receive help from others in difficult times. Even if they are willing to support, you cannot hope for their wholeheartedness.
+ Time is sometimes not the cure for deadlocks because the act of waiting for the right time to come is rarely effective.
- Subjective:
+ Inside each individual is the voice of change, an endless source of inner strength if awakened and promoted.
+ Individuals themselves sometimes cannot create changes, but their personal strength can spread and inspire the strength of others. In other words, positive changes are the result of a collective effort, but the idea of change always comes from each individual.
2.3. How are the changes that each individual brings about through their inner strength expressed?
- Personal: President Obama has had a bumpy educational journey that few people know about. Having been rejected by Swarthmore College when he applied, he gave himself another chance by enrolling in Occidental College, then became a student at two prestigious schools, Columbia University and Harvard. Overcoming disappointment, Obama found strength within himself, a stepping stone for him to become the most powerful man in America as we have seen.
- Country: Japan is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, always at risk of being submerged in the ocean but still becomes a leading developed power in the world. That achievement comes from the fact that they know how to protect themselves by building solid houses and installing a highly accurate earthquake and tsunami warning system.
2.4. Does each person always make the change? (Reversing the problem)
Transformation can come from individuals but it always takes a collective environment for the idea of change to bear fruit in reality.
Good ideas, capable people but sometimes cannot bring about change because of choosing the wrong time (in times of chaos, talented people hide, fish and wait for the right time; the art of war believes that timing is the decisive factor for victory).
2.5. Measures to nurture the ability to create change in each individual?
Positive, proactive in thinking and acting.
Criticize laziness, dependence, and reliance on others.
Believe in yourself while leveraging the power of the team and choosing the right timing.
3. Conclusion
President Obama's words are simple but full of inspiration, urging the effort to create positive change with the inner strength within each person.
Young people need to turn their enthusiasm and daring spirit into meaningful changes.
