The 2024 Love Cake – Returning to the Old Tet: Valuable experiences and lessons that no textbook or lecture hall can teach

Affirming that “Culture is the soul of the nation, as long as culture exists, the nation exists”, Dai Nam University constantly honors the traditional cultural values of the nation. With the activity “Returning to the old Tet”, teachers and students of Dai Nam University are “back in time” to learn about the origin, explore the unique and impressive cultural space of the old Tet; thereby fostering love, national pride and the spirit of learning, contributing, and building the homeland and country. That meaningful message is also an affirmation of the great attraction and value of “The cake of love” – the “specialty” program of Dai Nam University over the past 13 years.
Great experiences of Dai Nam teachers and students
Sharing at the program "The 2024 Love Cake - Returning to the Old Tet", Ms. Cao Thi Hoa - Vice President of the University Council, Vice Principal of Dai Nam University affirmed: "Culture is the soul of the nation. On the occasion of the traditional Tet holiday, Dai Nam University organizes the program RETURN TO THE OLD TET to recreate a space of OLD TET CULTURE with the aim of helping Dai Nam students in particular and the young generation in general to understand more deeply about the national culture, have the duty and responsibility to disseminate and preserve those traditional cultural values because: CULTURE EXISTS, THE NATION EXISTS"...
"Culture is the soul of the nation, if culture exists, the nation exists."
13 years of hard work "sowing happiness - giving love"
The "Banh Chung Nghia Tinh" program has entered its 13th year but is still highly anticipated and has a profound influence on the community. By 2024, the program had mobilized 18,000 teachers and students to participate; raised more than 3 billion VND; and donated nearly 30,000 green banh chung cakes to less fortunate people in society.

"Enjoying" the traditional Vietnamese costume performance of DNU teachers and students
One of the highlights of the program Returning to the Old Tet is the "peak" performance of traditional Vietnamese costumes by teachers and students of Dai Nam University. The performance brings together representatives of teachers and students from Faculties, Departments, Boards, Institutes, and Centers throughout the school. The investment in costumes and performance by teachers and students of Dai Nam University wants to convey a meaningful message to Dai Nam students in particular and the young generation in general: Culture is the soul of the nation. Generations of Vietnamese people need to understand, preserve, conserve and develop that culture so that it will never be lost, regardless of the era.
Nguyen Thanh Dat - QTKD class 16.02 shared: "Wearing the traditional costume of the nation and walking on the catwalk, I feel extremely proud, like returning to ancient times, understanding more about the meaning of each Vietnamese costume, from there loving the beauty of traditional culture more and seeing the need to have the responsibility to protect and spread it..."
DNU teachers and students enjoy traditional costumes.
In addition, DNU teachers and students were also “treated” to impressive Spring art performances from the school’s dance club. In particular, teachers also “indulged” students by dancing to catch the trend. This once again shortened the distance between teachers and students of Dai Nam University.
"Immerse yourself" in the ancient Tet atmosphere of different regions
With the activity “Back to the old Tet”, Dai Nam University took teachers and students “back in time” to discover the beauty of the old Tet in the three regions of the North, Central and South. Through the arrangement and re-enactment of the old Tet space of the rural markets from the countryside to the mountains of each stall, each product for sale has shown the love for the homeland, the national pride that never fades in the blood of every Vietnamese person…
In particular, the old Tet meal of the 3 regions with traditional dishes once again reminds Dai Nam teachers and students of the reunion; wishing for a new year full of prosperity, warmth and happiness.

Tug of war games are never absent in the folk activities of ancient Vietnamese people.
At the program, students also got to return to their childhood with traditional folk games: Tug of war, throwing con, hopscotch, jumping rope, bamboo pole jumping, dragon and snake up to the clouds... These activities not only created a vibrant atmosphere for the program but also helped young people return to their roots and Vietnamese history to share and appreciate more the traditional cultural beauty of the nation.

In addition, DNU teachers and students also received lucky words from the calligrapher. This is also a long-standing traditional activity of our people for many years. The beauty of flying dragons and dancing phoenixes and the meaning of each word are the wishes for a new year of peace, prosperity and happiness.
Go shopping for Tet, ask for calligraphy from the scholar right at school.
Phung Vu The Tai – a student of the Faculty of Business Administration shared: “This year’s program has given us quiet moments to look back at the ancient beauty, from which; we appreciate the traditional cultural values of the nation…”
