In the late 2000s, in Vietnam, PR was a new and young profession but was ranked by the press as one of the 10 "hottest" professions in the labor market. Recognizing the importance and power of PR, organizations and businesses have increasingly invested in this industry. The demand for recruiting human resources in this field has increased significantly. Meanwhile, training facilities have not met the number of specialized human resources. Grasping that practical situation, in 2011, Dai Nam University was one of the first few universities to open a Public Relations major.

Pioneer in opening Public Relations industry

In the late 2000s, in Vietnam, PR was a new and young profession but was ranked by the press as one of the 10 "hottest" professions in the labor market. Recognizing the importance and power of PR, organizations and businesses have increasingly invested in this industry. The demand for recruiting human resources in this field has increased significantly. Meanwhile, training facilities have not met the number of specialized human resources. Grasping that practical situation, in 2011, Dai Nam University was one of the first few universities to open a Public Relations major.
Dai Nam University is one of the first universities in the North to train in Public Relations and Communications.
PR-05 (2011-2015 school year) is the first group of students who love and boldly register for the PR major. Although the learning process still has some difficulties, but with the efforts, passion for discovery and creativity of both teachers and students; from the beginning of getting acquainted, the teachers and students of the Public Relations Department have initially made their mark through learning activities and organizing specialized events.

Regularly innovate programs and strengthen human resources

The Faculty is always interested in innovating and updating the training program. At the end of 2013, the Faculty organized a workshop on building a PR program with the consultation of many experts with the aim of defining the PR major more clearly and specifically through the output standards of knowledge and skills. Under the direction of the School, the Faculty builds a training program in the direction of application and practice. Graduates of the Public Relations major are capable of working as PR officers and staff in media companies; PR officers and staff in units and organizations with communication, PR and advertising departments. In addition, trainees also have the ability to adapt widely to be able to perform work duties at agencies and units related to the PR and communication major. In 2015-2017, the Faculty built and continued to supplement a group of skills training modules and invited experts who are working in practice to directly teach in the direction of "holding hands and showing work".
The training program is highly applicable, students are guided by instructors, learning and practicing as they go.
Because the training program is highly practical, the human resource structure of the PR department also has its own characteristics. The permanent lecturers of the department are not only those with professional knowledge but also those who are working in businesses and media companies. The department does not have many permanent teachers but has invited a large number of guest lecturers who are rich in professional experience and have professional responsibility.

Strengthening active training methods to meet practical social needs

In the curriculum of specialized subjects, students do not learn by rote, but must apply theory flexibly to real-life situations. The exam format of specialized subjects in QHCC does not test memorization but mostly exercises and products. After professional subjects, individuals or groups of students must know how to create a communication plan; know how to organize conferences, seminars, press conferences; know how to write and organize news, articles, produce multimedia communication products... For example, with the subject of Event Organization, the Faculty cooperates with the class to organize events in the annual plan that the Faculty has registered. From PR-05, PR-06, PR-07, PR-08... every year, events take place in which the students themselves find topics, create scripts, ask for sponsorship... and organize implementation. Many rich and diverse events leave an indelible mark in the life of PR students such as: Warm Winter Love, PR Journey, Reading Culture in the @ Era, Lisping and Solutions, MC Skills, From Night,...

Putting the learner at the center, the lecturer himself has created an environment where students cannot learn passively but are forced to change to meet the requirements and challenges in each subject. After making efforts to have a product, they often have to appear in front of their classmates to present and convince people to be interested in and support their product. In addition to professional knowledge and skills, students have the opportunity to practice soft skills such as teamwork, time management, communication skills, negotiation, etc. Therefore, studying Public Relations (PR), students will certainly have a completely different change, especially in communication skills - behavior, confidence, courage and passion for collective activities, social activities, etc. In addition, the School also regularly organizes events and activities to attract students to participate in meaningful activities. This is the ideal environment and "playground" for students majoring in Public Administration to practice and train so that they can immediately enter the labor market upon graduation.

Since the 3rd and 4th years, many students of the Faculty of Public Relations and Communications have had part-time jobs. Some have taken on key positions in the communications departments of agencies and businesses. According to a recent survey by Dai Nam University with alumni of courses 5 and 6, 100% of the Faculty's graduates have jobs, most of which are in their majors. Many students have confidently affirmed their abilities in finding job opportunities. Student Vu Thu Huong (an outstanding student of class PR-07) said at the graduation ceremony: "Four years is not a long time, but we are confident that when we graduate, our teachers have equipped us with the knowledge and skills to compete with students from other schools."

Bright smiles of students after successfully completing their final exams
That result has partly confirmed the right orientation and is a "priceless" gift recognizing the initial success of the teachers and students of the Faculty of Public Administration and Information Technology.
