What should candidates do if they fail their first choice?

According to Deputy Minister of Education and Training Bui Van Ga, many majors may not have enough enrollment quotas in the first round, so candidates who have not passed the exam still have the opportunity to apply to their favorite major/school.
Talking to the press about the 2016 university admissions (first round), Deputy Minister of Education and Training Bui Van Ga said that after August 19, schools will count the number of candidates who officially submitted their exam result certificates to announce additional admission quotas.
Accordingly, candidates who have passed the first round of university and college admission must quickly submit the original Certificate of Exam Results to the school they have decided to enroll in. The deadline for submitting this document is August 19.
After the above deadline, any candidate who does not submit the Certificate of Exam Results will be considered not accepted to study at the school and the school will call additional candidates.
Even if a candidate is admitted to a school, he/she must submit the original Certificate of Examination Results to confirm his/her admission. The candidate can submit it by post using express mail or by other means as prescribed by the school.
Candidates who have not passed their first choice still have many opportunities to be admitted to their favorite major/school.
Deputy Minister Bui Van Ga also noted that for candidates who have not passed the first round of admission (or candidates who have passed but have not submitted their Certificate of Exam Results to the school), they should follow additional admission information on the schools' websites.
After August 19, schools will count the number of candidates who officially submitted their exam results certificates to announce additional admission quotas for each major as well as conditions for receiving admission applications. "Due to virtual candidates, many majors, although having a large number of candidates registering in the first round, may still not be able to recruit enough candidates. Therefore, candidates who have not been admitted still have many opportunities to be admitted to the majors/schools they love," said Deputy Minister Bui Van Ga.
Regarding this, the Deputy Minister emphasized that according to statistics at the time of closing the database for schools to download data for admission, there were 396,496 candidates registered for 602,747 schools. Thus, about 75% of candidates registered for admission to two schools at the same time in the first round. Therefore, virtual candidates are inevitable.
For schools, the Ministry of Education and Training also requires public and transparent information on admissions, strict implementation of regulations and instructions on admissions, ensuring the correct time and schedule for admissions, and not setting any exceptions that cause difficulties for candidates.
