According to the Ministry of Health, although the number of graduates from pharmaceutical schools has doubled compared to before, it still cannot meet the human resource needs of this industry. Health experts say that the strong growth in consumer demand and market size has put the Vietnamese pharmaceutical industry in a serious shortage of human resources.

Accordingly, to meet market demand, there needs to be 25,000 pharmaceutical staff with university degrees or higher, the demand for university pharmacists accounts for 85.63%; the demand for higher-level human resources such as PhDs, Masters, Pharmacists I and Pharmacists II accounts for 14.3%.

Training time shortened to 4.5 years

From the 2023-2024 school year, the Pharmacy Department of Dai Nam University will shorten the training time to 4.5 years. Students who graduate 0.5 years earlier will benefit from job opportunities, have early income, save hundreds of millions of VND in living expenses; save time to study for a Master's or Doctorate degree (if needed).

Training program meets educational quality accreditation

The Pharmacy training program of Dai Nam University meets national quality standards and is accredited by the Center for Education Quality Assessment of Hanoi National University.

The Faculty of Pharmacy receives educational quality accreditation for the regular undergraduate training program in Pharmacy.

Therefore, Dai Nam University has invested heavily in English training for Pharmacy students (training costs are 4 times higher than other majors). Specifically, the school invited the best teachers from IMAP Vietnam Education and Training Joint Stock Company (Ms. Hoa TOEIC) to teach. The curriculum is specifically designed for Pharmacy students at Dai Nam University; students are tested for their English proficiency at the entrance to be divided into classes appropriate to their level, ensuring even absorption, helping students listen and understand easily. Practice from the first year

Dai Nam University has invested in building a separate Pharmacy Practice Center with 04 Pharmaceutical Chemistry practice and laboratory rooms; 10 technical practice rooms with an area of 1,000 m2 meeting the standards set by the Ministry of Health for university pharmacist training facilities.

In addition, students are also trained in selling drugs at a practical pharmacy system equipped according to the GPP pharmacy model; learn and classify medicinal plants in 02 medicinal gardens built according to the list of essential drugs issued by the Minister of Health. Regularly experience practice and study at pharmaceutical enterprises, hospitals, medicinal institutes, testing centers, etc.

Practice in a rich medicinal herb garden

Along with the laboratory system, the Medicinal Herb Garden of Dai Nam University is invested to help students have practical access to common medicinal plants used in daily life, bringing theory closer to practice; significantly enhancing the teaching effectiveness of the Pharmacy industry, especially for subjects studying natural products such as Plants, Medicinal Herbs, etc.

Dai Nam University has 02 medicinal plant gardens built according to the list of essential medicines issued by the Minister of Health. Medicinal plant garden 1 has an area of 272m2, garden 2 has an area of 235m2 with nearly 500 medicinal plants belonging to 180 species and 70 plant families; including herbs, shrubs, small trees and medium trees. These are plant species used to treat many different groups of diseases.

The Medicinal Garden is an interesting place for Pharmacy students to practice research.

During the study session at the garden, students will have direct contact with common medicinal plants with botanical characteristics, and will be able to touch, smell, and taste the medicinal plants used. This is more important when the rapid urbanization process has reduced the green area, leading to some Pharmacy students having less opportunity to have practical contact with medicinal plants. In addition, students are provided with information on the scientific names, chemical composition, parts used, and therapeutic uses of these plants, helping students gain more knowledge and understanding to participate in research on natural compounds used as medicines and health protection foods from medicinal herbs... Practicing in the Medicinal Herb Garden aims to realize the theoretical knowledge learned, helping students practice the skills of identifying medicinal plants, distinguishing them from species with similar characteristics, avoiding confusion, and detecting counterfeit medicinal herbs.

Businesses come directly to schools for training and career guidance

Dai Nam University constantly expands strategic cooperation with businesses; surveys business needs to adjust the curriculum to closely follow reality; invites experts and business representatives to the school to directly train and orient students' careers.
