According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training on the first year of the national high school exam , more than 68,700 candidates failed the 2015 national high school graduation exam and about 40,000 exams had a score below 1 (ie failing) and in the last 5 years, this is the year with the highest number of failed graduations.

However, for candidates with high scores this year, the trend is clearly increasing. Let's look at the Ministry of Education's statistics table for all 8 subjects with scores of 7 points or higher in university clusters.

In the meeting to give comments on the first year of the national high school exam, the delegates from the Education Department of Nghe An province as well as Mr. Nguyen Kim Son - Deputy Director of the National University said that it is necessary to differentiate the exam questions more clearly. And many delegates attending the conference on high school graduation exams and university and college admissions (October 28, 2015) proposed to separate the national high school and university exams so that universities and colleges can have better choices for students.

Agreeing with the above, Dr. Vo The Quan - Chairman of the Scientific Council, Vietnam Innovation Center, Vietnam Association for Promoting Education, and currently Principal of Dong Do High School (Hanoi), said that the national high school exam needs to be more differentiated in order to be able to evaluate and select students with the qualifications to continue to university.

You may not know about the modern trend of considering high school transcripts to enter regular universities

Currently, the 2015 exam consists of two parts with a 50-50 ratio, one basic part for candidates who only take the high school graduation exam , the other part is to differentiate students for university and college admission. According to Dr. Vo The Quan, this ratio is not reasonable, especially for Literature, this ratio does not say much. If possible, the exam should be increased to a ratio of 40-60, in which 40% are easy questions, 60% are more difficult questions, or even 30% are easy questions, 70% are more difficult questions.

Therefore, many opinions from teachers as well as from universities suggest that the Ministry of Education needs to increase the level of differentiation at the level of 7, 8, 9 and 10 points, making it more difficult, while the level of 6 points or lower should still be maintained or can be made easier to better differentiate good and excellent students. At the same time, it does not affect the group of students who take the exam only for the purpose of high school graduation .

Therefore, one thing that seems certain is that the review questions 7, 8, 9, 10 in the 2016 national high school exam will be more difficult than the 2015 national high school exam.
