1. Smile and take a deep breath

No matter what your level is, confidence is key when speaking English.

Smiling before you start speaking will help you feel more confident, even creating a friendly image to easily make new friends.

Also, try not to put too much pressure on yourself while speaking, but take time to take a deep breath when you get stuck, regain your composure and continue to complete what you want to express.

2. Remember vocabulary in specific sentences

Instead of writing down a long list of vocabulary words and memorizing them, write down specific sentences that use the vocabulary words. If you use flashcards, write each sentence on a card so you remember how to use the words in the right context.

Finding a funny quote or one that is relevant to your life is also a way to increase effectiveness.

3. Listen a lot

When you listen to the radio, news or watch movies in English, pay attention to what you are taking in. A notebook makes it easy to write down new phrases to look up later or ask your teacher about any sentence structures you don’t understand.

If you are speaking to a native speaker, don’t be afraid to ask them to explain an idiom they just used. Hearing real-world English will help you use it more naturally than learning it from a textbook.

4. Practice mouth muscles

Some sounds in one language do not exist in another. To produce the correct sounds, you need to practice speaking a lot to develop your mouth muscles. Practice speaking loudly and clearly at home, record yourself, listen to it to check and correct yourself. You can practice speaking louder and more "stylishly" when practicing alone so that the words come out of your mouth fluently and clearly in normal conversation.

5. Imitate native speakers

First, find someone whose voice you like and find some audio of them. Then, take a few sentences and imitate the way they say it, as closely as possible. Pay attention to each syllable and the stress. This way, you will learn a lot and gradually pronounce words naturally like a native.

In addition to the five steps above, remember to find ways to make learning English a fun and enjoyable activity, and practice every day until you reach your goal.
