Identify the importance of choosing a career

This is a very important step, if you choose wrongly, it will be a huge waste for yourself, your family and society. Choosing a major based on your own interests and aspirations will be more sustainable. Choosing an unsuitable major will greatly affect your studies and future work. Career guidance is a big issue and needs to be one step ahead.
The most important and core thing when choosing a major and school is to choose the right major according to your interests, strengths, and talents. However, in reality, candidates and parents hope to be admitted to university and choose a major "randomly" as long as they have enough points to pass the entrance exam. That is a wrong way of thinking.
Next, the job demand of future professions will be more meaningful than all the initial questions: "Which school/major is easy to pass?".

Know your strength

There are many professions and the choices of students are extremely diverse. Therefore, the current career choices of candidates are very rich in the direction of freedom and voluntariness.

There are many opportunities, but candidates should not choose high-level professions when they do not know their own capabilities. After choosing the major and profession they like, they should choose their strengths to enter moderately top schools (many criteria to refer to: standard scores, recruitment quotas, social needs, jobs after graduation, geographical location conditions...).
However, there are also many cases where students… are dependent on the decision of others (advice is very useful, very important but it is only for reference, they themselves must decide about their future) to take the exam for a major they do not like, at an inappropriate level. If they pass, it is only a temporary stay, very uncertain.

Prioritize hobbies and interests

There are many criteria for selection. Each criterion has a basis. When there is a “theoretical and practical basis” for selection, students are usually satisfied with their decision.
However, whether this satisfaction is long-term or short-term, whether it is sustainable or not depends on the students themselves. In my opinion, choosing according to their own interests, strengths, and aspirations is sustainable!
But don't be too conservative or extreme, listen to advice because sometimes you don't have enough information. You should test your interests, strengths, and aspirations to see if... you are mistaken or not?
I find Holland's theory (6 groups of interests that match careers, attached) on career choice is also a good reference for testing.
