“Up to now, the decision to do an internship in Japan is the most important and correct decision I have ever made. I still dream of going to Japan at the age of 20; working in the world's best nursing environment; seeing cherry blossoms, taking the high-speed train and subway; meeting and working with Japanese nurses…” That is the sharing of student Khong Nhat Linh - Nursing class 11-01, Faculty of Nursing, Dai Nam University about her recent 3-month internship in Japan.
Up to now, the decision to go to Japan as an intern is the most important and correct decision I have ever made. I still dream of going to Japan at the age of 20; working in the world's best nursing environment; seeing cherry blossoms, taking the high-speed train and subway; meeting and working with Japanese nurses and nurses… ” That is the sharing of student Khong Nhat Linh - Nursing class 11-01, Faculty of Nursing, Dai Nam University about the recent 3-month internship in Japan.

In August 2018, implementing the policy of the Dai Nam University Leadership, the Faculty of Nursing began to look for partners to send students to study and work in Japan. After many meetings, Dai Nam University signed an "Internship Program Cooperation Agreement with Risekai Medical Facility - Japan". The two sides agreed to implement a 3-month Nursing Internship Program to study and work at Villa Kitasaki Nursing Home in Japan.

The target group is 2nd year Nursing students, basic Japanese is required. The Nursing Department has organized many meetings to introduce this program. By early February 2019, only 7 full-time students of the 11th course registered for interviews to select students to go to Japan. Fortunately, 6 students were accepted for the 3-month Internship program in Japan (3-6/2019).

6 students of the Faculty of Nursing, Dai Nam University were welcomed by Japanese partners at the airport on the first day of their internship in Japan.

MSc. Le Van Duy - Acting Head of Nursing Faculty, Dai Nam University said: " The purpose of the internship is for students to practice elderly care techniques at nursing homes; get acquainted with advanced working environments; have access to modern medical equipment; learn and improve Japanese and most importantly, live directly, communicate and learn from Japanese people..."

The Japanese really like Vietnamese students because they have similar appearance and personality, the same Eastern culture, worship Buddha and ancestors. Accordingly, the students do not have to pay any expenses for the trip, but in return they receive a monthly allowance of 16 million VND, 6 million VND for expenses in Japan and 10 million VND to send home to their families.

As soon as they arrived in Japan, the 6 students started working under the dedicated guidance of the staff and medical staff of Villa Kitasaki Nursing Home.

“The purpose is very clear, all other conditions are also very favorable, students just need to be determined to study, but at first they were still hesitant, not believing that this program is so easy? Why can they study without spending any money and still have income?”, Master. Le Van Duy shared.

Of the 6 students who were accepted, 4 did not want to go because they were worried because they had never been abroad before. Many parents called the Nursing Department to request that they write a commitment letter to ensure that their children would not be sold to China. Near the departure date, the Nursing Department organized face-to-face talks to strengthen the “trust” of the students and their families.

“The day I said goodbye to the students was a heavy heart. I can’t forget their worried, timid, and distrustful eyes about the trip…”, T.H. Le Van Duy recalled.

After 3 months of studying and working in Japan, 6 students of the Nursing Faculty of Dai Nam University have matured a lot.

However, the next day, good news came. The students announced on Zalo that they had arrived and were picked up at the airport by their Japanese partners and taken to the Nursing Home. The Nursing Department asked them to report their work results every week to monitor and adjust them in a timely manner. Then there was news that the students were working very hard and did not want to continue studying. The Nursing Department looked into this information and the students reported that they were doing very well, living and working in Japan, experiencing the landscape and society.

Nursing students visit and experience life in the land of the rising sun.

3 months have passed. The teachers of the Nursing Faculty went to the airport to welcome the 6 students. Everything was so overwhelming and I couldn't believe my eyes. They had completely changed, matured, became more confident, stronger and most importantly, they had seen the purpose of their lives. That was to study well to work in Japan. Tears fell when the teachers and students met again and the first words of Khong Nhat Linh - Nursing class 11-01 were: "Up to now, the decision to go to Japan as an intern is the most important and correct decision I have ever made. I still feel like I am dreaming when I am 20 years old and I am going to Japan, working in the best nursing environment in the world, seeing cherry blossoms, taking the high-speed train and subway, meeting and working with Japanese nurses..."

6 Nursing students confidently reported the results of their 3-month internship in Japan.

At the reporting session of the results of the 3-month internship in Japan of 6 students, Ms. Cao Thi Hoa - Vice Principal of Dai Nam University could not hide her emotion: "I am truly happy and proud of the rapid maturity of the students after only 3 months of internship. This success proves once again that the school's policy is completely practical, necessary and correct in training combined with practical experience at the facilities, especially the practice abroad is really spectacular"...

Ms. Cao Thi Hoa, Vice Principal, is giving instructions and sharing joy with 6 students who have just returned from their internship to report their study results at school.

After this batch of students with “all beginnings are difficult”, Dai Nam University will continue to send more batches of students to do internships in countries such as Japan, Germany, etc. This is also the guaranteed and quality output for Dai Nam Nursing students in particular and other faculties in general!

Learning goes hand in hand with practice; combining theory with practice; training generations of students with solid professional knowledge, good working skills, meeting the needs of recruiting high-quality human resources of domestic and international enterprises right at school has always been the training motto of Dai Nam University over the years.

At the Faculty of Nursing, Dai Nam University, students' practice and internship time accounts for 2/3 of the total study time, which means that one theory period will have three practice periods. In addition to practicing on models and internships at domestic medical facilities, DNU Nursing students also have the opportunity to do internships in developed countries such as Japan, Korea, and China under the Internship cooperation program.

And so that students can quickly catch up and meet the practical requirements of foreign enterprises, the Faculty of Nursing - Dai Nam University has continuously reviewed and changed the training program, linking training with practice, learning with doing..., at the same time helping students learn about the culture of countries to fully equip themselves with professional knowledge as well as practical career experience, creating a successful and sustainable future.
