Dai Nam University – 15 years of pride

On November 14, 2007, the Prime Minister signed a Decision allowing Dai Nam University to officially operate and enroll its first class. After 15 years of strong development, Dai Nam University has now completed its infrastructure system, training programs, teaching staff... gradually becoming a prestigious non-public university in the country, with its scale and training quality constantly increasing. The development goal of the University is to become the first choice of learners; to fulfill its mission of training high-quality human resources, contributing to building a prosperous country without profit; to be a trusted destination for generations of dynamic, intelligent and courageous Vietnamese students...

Journey of creating trust

Dr. Le Dac Son received the decision to establish Dai Nam University from the Ministry of Education and Training (2007).

From a burning passion for education - Dr. Le Dac Son (then General Director of VPBank) and 12 scientists started to build a project to establish Dai Nam University under the auspices of the Vietnam Construction Association.

After nearly 2.5 years of building conditions to ensure training quality according to regulations, on November 14, 2007, Dai Nam University was granted the Decision to establish by the Prime Minister and the Decision to recognize by the Ministry of Education and Training. Dr. Le Dac Son officially became the first Chairman of the School Council of the University.

Sharing about the decision to establish Dai Nam University, Dr. Le Dac Son - Chairman of the University Council said: “Every person born into this world has their own destiny and mission. Destiny is a life of sadness - joy, happiness - suffering, rich - poor, happy or unhappy. Mission is the work, the career that follows that person for the rest of his life. Whoever chooses correctly and does his job well means that he has fulfilled his destiny. And for me, being an educator is fulfilling my mission. No matter how many environments and jobs I have experienced in different fields, in the end I still choose to return to education - the career I have chosen since I was a first-year student at Hanoi University of Science and Technology…”

Even though I have been working abroad and after returning home to develop my career in the real estate sector, I still have a passion for teaching. That is why I immediately accepted the invitation from Mr. Le Dac Son to Dai Nam University. And since then, we have worked together to overcome thousands of difficulties and hardships to build Dai Nam University as it is today…”

15 years of accumulating trust and proud numbers

It has been 15 years since the date of receiving the Prime Minister's Decision on Establishment. Dai Nam University has gone through many difficulties and challenges. There were periods when it seemed like it had to stop. However, with collective intelligence, will, determination and unity - all for the students, Dai Nam University has gradually overcome difficulties and challenges, built a solid foundation of facilities, teaching staff, advanced training programs... and achieved proud achievements.

In the 2007-2008 school year, Dai Nam University enrolled its first class with 35 lecturers, 04 training majors and 230 students. The Hesco building (Nguyen Trai - Ha Dong - Hanoi) was used as its headquarters.

In 2010, Dai Nam University moved its headquarters to 56 Vu Trong Phung - Thanh Xuan - Hanoi.

In 2011, from a low-lying land in Ha Dong (now No. 1 Pho Xom, Phu Lam, Ha Dong, Hanoi), the first 9-storey lecture hall building, 12 dormitory blocks and 3 canteen blocks were completed, meeting the minimum requirements for Dai Nam to confidently expand its training scale.

Pharmacy is one of the key training majors of Dai Nam University and is highly appreciated by society for its training quality.

In 2013, Dai Nam University was proud to be the first private university licensed to provide regular undergraduate training in Pharmacy, and was also licensed to enroll postgraduate students - Master's level in Finance - Banking.

In 2014, honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Education and Training for outstanding achievements in University training; Chu Van An Award for educational and training achievements in the 2014-2015 school year.

In 2015, the school continued to be awarded the Emulation Flag for outstanding achievements in higher education institutions by the Ministry of Education and Training.

In 2016, Dai Nam University was licensed to train Nursing and continue to expand the scale of training in the Health sector.

Dai Nam University received a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister at the school's 10th anniversary celebration (2017).

In 2017, after 10 years of establishment, honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister.

In 2018, it was the first university in the Northern region to have a 3-star Lotus Legend practice hotel for students to practice.

Put Rosamia Danang Hotel into operation and serve as a practice facility for students (2019).

In 2019, the School continued to put the 5-star Rosamia Hotel - Da Nang and the 4-star Hung Long Hotel - Bac Ninh into operation and became a facility for students to practice their profession, bringing the total number of practice hotels of the School to 3.

Honored to be one of the first 8 universities to achieve Educational Institution Quality Accreditation according to the new set of standards of the Ministry of Education and Training (November 2019).

In November 2019, Dai Nam University was one of the first 8 universities to achieve Institutional Quality Accreditation according to the new standards of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Dai Nam University officially enrolls students in the Medical major from 2020.

In 2020, Dai Nam University is one of two private universities licensed by the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Health to train in General Medicine. In the same year 2020, Dai Nam University was licensed to train masters in Pharmaceutical Management Organization.

Dai Nam University is one of the few universities licensed to train Masters in Pharmaceutical Management.

In January 2021, the School continued to start construction of the second phase of the School Complex with a total investment of up to 1,800 billion VND to meet the increasing demand for facilities to serve the training of students studying at the school over the years; contributing high-quality human resources in the fields of health, economics, engineering, social sciences and humanities to the country.

In May 2022, GD2 building in the 1,800 billion VND project was handed over and put into use.

In April 2022, construction of the Headquarters building and Startup Center will continue.

In July 2022, the entire Vu Trong Phung campus was completed and moved to the main headquarters at No. 1 Xom Street - Phu Lam - Ha Dong - Hanoi. Dai Nam University officially became one, concentrating all resources to accelerate development.

After 15 years of construction and development, Dai Nam University has had spectacular growth in both quantity and quality: The number of students and training majors has increased rapidly and strongly over the years.

In 2007, the school had only 230 students and 4 training majors.

2009 - 4,300 students with 6 training majors.

2010 - 5,500 students with 7 training majors.

2011 - 6,600 students with 8 training majors.

2013 - 7,600 students with 9 training majors.

2014 - 8,700 students with 9 training majors.

2015 - 8,000 students with 10 training majors.

2016 - 9,000 students with 11 training majors.

2017 - 9,500 students with 12 training majors.

2020 - 10,000 students with 15 training majors.

And by 2022, the School will have 11,000 students studying in 23 regular undergraduate training majors, 05 Master's training majors and 01 Doctoral training major.

With 32,000 students, currently studying, of which more than 20,000 have graduated. The rate of graduates having jobs in their majors is 95%, in which many majors reach 100%, students have jobs since they are still in school.

To make Dai Nam University successful today, besides the leadership of Captain Dr. Le Dac Son and the extended arms of the key leadership team (Board of Directors, heads of faculties, departments, offices, institutes, centers...), we must also mention the unity, comradeship, and consensus of more than 800 cadres, lecturers, and employees in the University.

That is why, from 35 officers, lecturers and staff of the first course, Dai Nam University has now gathered more than 800 officers, lecturers and staff, including 03 professors, 50 associate professors, 125 PhDs, and 375 masters.

100% of DNU's permanent lecturers are professionally trained at prestigious domestic and international training institutions. In particular, the school's staff is constantly studying to improve their professional qualifications and skills.

Modern facilities and rapidly increasing utilities to serve training. The total area used is nearly 9 hectares in the center of Ha Dong district, of which the total floor area for training, scientific research and comprehensive human development is 154,402 m2. Dai Nam University has a system of lecture halls, computer practice rooms, Pharmacy Practice Center, practice rooms - experiments - skinlab, medicinal garden, practice pharmacy, IT practice workshop, startup center, Banking and Finance and Auditing Practice Center, 3-star, 4-star, 5-star practice hotel system and Travel Company in many provinces/cities across the country... The facilities ensure that all theories are illustrated with practice, helping students easily grasp and apply knowledge quickly and effectively.

Currently, Dai Nam University is continuing to build the second phase of the school complex with a total investment of up to 1,800 billion VND. After completing the second phase, Dai Nam is qualified to train 20,000 students/year.

The movement activities of the Youth Union of Dai Nam University are always closely linked to the general situation of the country and the world. Thereby educating the young generation to live responsibly for themselves, their families, their communities and society. All of these activities have, are and will continue to attract the hearts of tens of thousands of Dai Nam students and the recognition of millions of people across the country... Nearly 1,000 people in the common home of Dai Nam University. We are not outstanding individuals, and we are not talented leaders who can decide the fate of Dai Nam alone.
