Dai Nam University elevates Chinese language teaching with international seminar “Teaching Chinese from a global perspective”

Identifying international training cooperation as a development trend of modern education, improving teaching quality, expanding job opportunities in the international market for students; Dai Nam University constantly expands cooperation, organizes international seminars, and promotes training cooperation with major universities in the world. The international scientific seminar "Teaching Chinese from a global perspective" is one of the activities to develop that training program.

The program featured speakers who are leading experts in Chinese language teaching, including: Prof. Luong Ha (Washington University in St. Louis), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hien (University of Foreign Languages - Vietnam National University, Hanoi), Prof. Vuong Ngoc Anh (Changchun University), Prof. De Hoan Song (Changchun University of Technology) and Prof. Tang Kim Kim (National Taiwan University).

Along with that is the participation of many researchers and lecturers from Foreign Language University - Hanoi National University, Thuy Loi University, Phenikaa University, Hanoi Pedagogical University, Hanoi University of Finance and Banking, Thang Long University...

Speaking at the seminar, Associate Professor, Dr. Do Anh Tai - Vice President emphasized: Dai Nam University strives to build a comprehensive Chinese language training program; build a team of experienced and highly qualified lecturers; update advanced teaching methods and apply information technology in the teaching process; create maximum conditions for students to participate in international seminars, conferences, exchange programs and internships in China.

Associate Professor, Dr. Do Anh Tai: "This seminar is an opportunity for experts and researchers to connect and improve the quality of Chinese language teaching at Vietnamese universities in the coming time."

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Anh - Professional Advisor of the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture chaired the discussion.

Professor Luong Ha – Washington University in St. Louis (USA) shared his experiences in teaching Chinese phonetics, vocabulary, grammar, and writing that he had successfully applied in the US. His sharing is of great value to teaching Chinese in Vietnam.

Prof. Vuong Ngoc Anh (Truong Xuan University) shared his experience in online teaching of the Chinese Linguistics course that he is undertaking at Dai Nam University. The professor pays special attention to teaching methods, lesson preparation and online interaction skills. All have been carefully and meticulously prepared to create an interactive learning environment, helping to maintain students' interest and concentration in class.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hien - Deputy Head of the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture, University of Languages and International Studies - Vietnam National University, Hanoi introduced teaching practices, opportunities and challenges in the field of teaching Chinese in Vietnam.

Professor Tang Kim Kim's report analyzed the standards in oral language assessment tests, including content, pronunciation, natural communication ability... The professor also pointed out the importance of building comprehensive tests to accurately reflect the language ability of learners.

Prof. De Hoan Song - Changchun University of Technology introduced teaching methods for Intercultural Communication to Vietnamese students. The professor used practical and vivid examples to illustrate cultural similarities and differences in communication. This method not only helps students gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture but also improves their ability to communicate and interact in a multicultural environment.

The guest discussion brought a lively atmosphere to the conference.

Luc Minh Phong, a student of class TT 15-01, Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture, Dai Nam University, shared: “This is a useful academic forum for us to meet and learn from teachers. The discussion helped me to be more interested in studying and learning about Chinese language and culture.”

The seminar brought rich and useful perspectives for improving the quality of teaching and learning Chinese in Vietnam, while opening up new opportunities for international cooperation, creating a vibrant and positive learning atmosphere, promoting cooperation and connection between students, lecturers and scientists from different cultures.
