Mr. Le Dac Son - Chairman of Dai Nam University Council delivered the opening speech at the Seminar.

“After nearly 15 years since its establishment, Dai Nam University has 18 undergraduate training majors; 05 postgraduate training majors. In its development roadmap, Dai Nam has built a plan to train high-quality human resources for society at higher levels. Therefore, the University Council has assigned the Graduate Training Institute to develop a project to open a major and request permission to train a PhD in Economic Management. Today's conference brings together highly reputable and experienced scientists in the field of training PhDs in Economic Management nationwide. This is an important premise for Dai Nam to complete the construction of the training program framework, output standards and training conditions to be able to officially enroll students in the near future… ” said Mr. Le Dac Son.

At the Seminar, Associate Professor, Dr. Phan Trong Phuc - Vice Principal in charge of the Institute of Postgraduate Training presented a report on the survey of training needs for PhD in Economic Management; Output standards and training framework program for PhD in Economic Management compiled by the Institute of Postgraduate Training, Dai Nam University.

After listening to the report of the Institute of Postgraduate Studies, the Conference discussed and assessed learning needs and contributed ideas to build a training program framework for the Doctoral level of Economic Management at Dai Nam University.

Experts basically appreciate and agree with Dai Nam's policy of training PhDs in Economic Management.

According to Dr. Nguyen Tri Thanh - economic expert, Central Institute for Economic Management, in the context of international integration and the 4.0 industrial revolution, Dai Nam University's roadmap to train Economic Management at the doctoral level is completely correct. However, the school needs to create competition in the training program to attract people.

“Competition can come from international lecturers, experts from businesses, new and updated learning content. In addition, schools should have their own training strategies and philosophies, increase the amount of time for soft skills, foreign languages and information technology…” Dr. Nguyen Tri Thanh commented.

Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Quang Tuan - Director of the Institute of Economics, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, assessed that Dai Nam's approach is based on social needs, and the survey of social needs is implemented very well.

In addition to training quality, the training environment is very important. Friendliness towards learners is also a difference to attract candidates. Most learners are very weak in soft skills, however, soft skills training at the PhD level should focus on a number of key skills that directly serve the learning, working, and research process to avoid causing boredom for learners… ” Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Quang Tuan emphasized.

At the Seminar, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Duc Hiep - Head of the Faculty of Business Administration, University of Economics (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) highly appreciated the efforts of Dai Nam University. “ The school's training program is quite comprehensive, almost meeting the expectations of learners. However, looking from the goals, output standards are directing learners to problem solving. This is a good goal, but each person aims to solve the problem differently. In addition, the training program must include subjects to provide learners with advanced leadership skills, experts. Learners must have experience at business networks, training establishments..”

Dr. Vu Dinh Anh – Economic expert, Ministry of Finance also affirmed that the demand for studying for a PhD in Economic Management is very high. The proof is that any university that offers PhD training chooses to train in Economic Management.

Dr. Vu Dinh Anh added: Currently, in all training programs, the weakest skills for learners are reading - understanding - drawing out issues of concern and currently no university or institute has included this subject or method in training for learners. Dai Nam University can add this content to create a difference.

Dr. Bui Thi Hong Viet - National Economics University suggested that when building the training program, Dai Nam University should consider building courses with compatible training volume/duration.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Viet Lam - National Economics University supports Dai Nam University to train PhD in Economic Management. However, this is the first major so the school needs to be very careful in every step, from building output standards to suit the requirements of the management agency, creating conditions for learners to communicating to attract learners to enroll in the school.

Delegates, experts, business owners, teachers at the Seminar.

On behalf of Dai Nam University, Associate Professor, Dr. Phan Trong Phuc thanked and acknowledged the delegates' contributions to build a PhD training program in Economic Management that best meets the needs of high-quality human resources of society. The school believes that Dai Nam's future PhDs in Economic Management will be people with solid professional knowledge, professional skills and attitudes, and the ability to integrate well into the current competitive but also many-opportunity international context.
