DNU Chinese Language freshmen prove their mettle at the "Chinese Character Spelling" contest

With the goal of creating an environment for training and discovering talents, and at the same time selecting representatives of the Chinese Language Department to participate in national Chinese language competitions, the Chinese Language and Culture Department of Dai Nam University continues to successfully organize the "Chinese Character Spelling" competition season 2 for first-year students.

The "Chinese Character Spelling" Contest, Season 2, is for K17 students majoring in Chinese Language; using simplified Chinese characters, the scope is mainly vocabulary according to the first-year curriculum.

Speaking at the contest, Dr. Vo Thi Minh Ha - Head of the Department of Chinese Language and Culture shared: “For Chinese learners, Chinese characters are one of the biggest obstacles. From a linguistic perspective, Chinese characters are ideograms and do not have phonetic features, so they are completely separate from reading sounds. Not only that, the number of strokes in Chinese characters is relatively large. That shows that up to this point, students have every right to be proud because they have initially conquered Chinese characters - one of the most difficult fonts in the world today”.

The competition took place in three parts: Listening to the written word, Writing the word according to the radicals and Guessing the meaning of the written word. The teams demonstrated their agility and talent in each part, bringing the audience thrilling and dramatic competitions.

In the end, the first prize was awarded to the team from class TT 17.08. The teams from class TT 17.02 and TT 17.12 won the second prize. The third prize was awarded to the teams from class TT 17.03 and TT 17.11.

Ms. Vo Thi Minh Ha awarded the first prize to students of class TT 17.08.

Second prize was awarded to the TT 17.02 and TT 17.12 teams.

Third Prize was awarded to the teams from class TT 17.03 and TT 17.11.

From "zero", students of Chinese Language Department of Dai Nam University have successfully conquered Chinese. This achievement demonstrates the high-quality training program and effective teaching methods of the Chinese Language and Culture Department, and affirms Dai Nam University's position in the field of Chinese language training.

Sharing after the competition, representative of the Champion team Tran Thi Yen Nhi said: “This victory is a testament to the meaningful journey with our efforts and dreams. This award will definitely motivate us to continue striving and achieve more success.”

Hoang Thi Bich Thuy - student of class TT 17-06 expressed: "Although the result is not as expected, I am still proud of myself for daring to try and trying my best. Each competition and lesson helps me grow and understand myself better. Failure is a new beginning for progress and improvement. I thank the Faculty for organizing this useful playground and hope there will be more competitions for us to exchange and learn from each other."
