English is the global language today. Mastering English will help young people integrate easily and open up great successes in their careers. Especially for medical students, English becomes even more necessary when most medical documents and research works are in English.

And every 72 days, medical knowledge doubles. Only by mastering English can people studying and working in the medical field study, research, and improve their medical knowledge to meet job requirements and conquer the ladder in their career. With the motto "As long as you have determination and effort, no matter when you start, it is never too late to learn English" and the special English training program of the School, students of the Faculty of Medicine of Dai Nam University have "reaped sweet fruit" when most of the TOEIC results reached 700 - 900 points.

English – a tool for medical students to study and conquer career ladders

Identifying English as a competitive “weapon” for students after graduation, Dai Nam University has invested heavily in English training for medical students (training costs are 4 times higher than other majors).

Specifically, students are tested for English proficiency upon entry and divided into classes according to their level. The training program not only ensures that students pass the English output standard but also receive advanced English training for future study, research and work.

English – Second Language of DNU Medical Students

Taking advantage of that, students of the Faculty of Medicine always focus on and make efforts to learn English right from the first days of entering the lecture hall. From the goal of studying to qualify for graduation, currently, English has become a part of life, the second language of students of the Faculty of Medicine.

Hoang Gia Khanh - a student of General Medicine class 14.01 'won' 810 points.

Studying TOEIC since his first year of university, Hoang Gia Khanh - a student of General Medicine class 14.01 'won' 810 points, of which Listening was 450 points and Reading was 360 points. For the second year student, this is a worthy result for a process of effort and training.

“I think it is never too late to learn English. Some people can achieve their desired score in just a few months. It’s just a matter of whether you have enough determination to do it,” Khanh shared.

Agreeing with Gia Khanh's sharing, Can Khanh Linh - a student of General Medicine class 14.01, who achieved 720 TOEIC points, said: "As long as you have determination and try hard, no matter when you start, it is never too late to learn English."

Can Khanh Linh, a student of General Medicine class 14.01, thinks it's not too late to start learning English now.

Starting to learn TOEIC from the first year of university, Vu Quang Phu, class 14.02 of General Medicine, clearly defined his goal of learning English not to meet the graduation requirements but to speak, listen and understand this language. For the future doctor, English is like his second language, requiring a lot of time to cultivate and practice. After more than 1 year of studying, Phu excellently achieved 730 TOEIC points.

“Each person has a different concept of English. But as long as you feel that English is necessary and important, you will want to learn it, whether it is listening to music, watching movies or even reading books,” Phu said.

Vu Quang Phu, class 14.02 of General Medicine, considers English as his second language.

Vu Hoang Phuong Thuy, class 14.01 of General Medicine, believes that it is never too late to start learning English compared to the benefits it brings. Especially for medical students, English plays an important role in life, study as well as future work.

“English is not the deciding factor in how well you study or whether you can find a job after graduation. But certainly, your development potential will be more limited than that of those who are good at foreign languages,” Thuy shared.

Vu Hoang Phuong Thuy, a student of General Medicine class 14.01, excelled in achieving 815 TOEIC points.

English is not a difficult subject if we love it enough and spend time studying it. According to Tang Khuong Duy - a student of General Medicine class 14.01, instead of wondering 'is it too late to learn English', we should set goals and have a specific 'conquest' plan.

“When you start is not as important as whether you really try hard or not. As long as you practice, you will definitely get a high score in English one day,” Duy affirmed.

Do Trong Hieu, a medical student, also affirmed: “English is not difficult. The difficulty here is your laziness and superficiality towards English. It is not too late to start learning English now. You still have a lot of time to start over. You need to have will, determination, patience and perseverance, surely getting 700-800 or 900 TOEIC points is very easy”.

Do Trong Hieu 'snatched' 720 TOEIC points in the recent exam.
