In order to help new students understand the purpose and meaning of studying at university; equip them with necessary knowledge and skills; inspire and motivate them to study, during the Integration Week for new students of the 14th course, Dai Nam University (DNU) invited speaker Le Tham Duong to share on the topic "Why study at university". The Talkshow was solemnly held at the National Convention Center with the participation of nearly 4,000 students of the 13th and 14th courses.

The University Council and Board of Directors of Dai Nam University respectfully welcome speaker Le Tham Duong.

In his opening speech at the Talkshow Why go to university, Dr. Le Dac Son - Chairman of the Board of Dai Nam University, especially emphasized: “The important time that determines the success or failure of a person's life is the period of 4 years, 5 years, 6 years in university. The difference between successful students and unsuccessful students is the motivation to study. Students with motivation to study know what they need and what to do when entering university... No one has the right to force a person to live or die, but a saying can inspire and motivate people to succeed. Hopefully, after being inspired by speaker Le Tham Duong, students will determine their goal of studying at university and take action to change their own lives.”

Dr. Le Dac Son - Chairman of Dai Nam University Council gave the opening speech at the event.

Don't be mistaken if you don't go to college!

Starting the sharing session with teachers and students of Dai Nam University, speaker Le Tham Duong said that there are currently many opinions about going to university, including the opinion that " you don't need to go to university to be successful " with many typical examples, such as: Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg... However, he affirmed that this is a serious mistake "people don't understand so they just say nonsense" . The speaker cited Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg or Bau Duc of Vietnam as extremely unique cases in the world. In fact, they are the people who learn the most and never stop learning.

DNU's talk show Why study at university was solemnly held at the National Convention Center.

With the participation of nearly 4,000 staff, lecturers and students of courses 13 and 14.

“Bill Gates is the most educated person, so American universities are forced to invite him as an honorary professor… I don’t force you to believe it, but humanity has shed blood and tears to come to this conclusion, and I am just the one who tells you, but that is not the knowledge I invented. You can be successful without going to college? Don’t be mistaken!…”

Over 18, what you become is your decision.

Speaker Le Tham Duong added that university is not the only way to study; no one will die if they do not go to university, but the quality of life between educated people and uneducated people is very different. “You are over 18 years old, the decision of what kind of life you will live in the future is up to you.”

Studies also show that 80% of the poor in society have no education beyond high school; 90% of the rich have a university degree or higher. This statistic accurately reflects the nature and impact of knowledge on human life. Human success cannot depend on luck or misfortune.

Speaker Le Tham Duong was inspired by nearly 4,000 teachers and students of Dai Nam.

Fall down 7 times, stand up 8 times to be sure of success

Also according to speaker Le Tham Duong, in life there are 5 teachers. The first teacher is your school teachers, the second teacher is yourself, the third teacher is your friends, the fourth teacher is your idol, the fifth teacher is the internet and books. Of the 5 teachers, the fifth teacher is the most beneficial today because "reading books is like riding on the shoulders of giants".

Confucius once said that out of every 3 people you walk with, 1 is definitely your teacher, the other two can be friends or teachers. Falling down 7 times, getting up 8 times is sure to succeed. All of the above propositions lead to a command that you must learn. Where to learn? Learn from the teachers first and if you haven't had the opportunity to learn from all 5 teachers, learn from the teachers in your own school first. If you are aware of that, it would be strange if you didn't succeed.”

DNU students were extremely excited and impressed by the sharp and sincere sharing of speaker Le Tham Duong.

Life must have QUALITY

This is the content that speaker Le Tham Duong especially emphasized at the sharing session. If life has enough food, people call it the standard of living. If life has enough food and enough spirit, it is called quality of life. If life has enough food, enough spirit and has will, it is called a quality life.

New DNU students confidently interact with speaker Le Tham Duong.

The speaker further explained: “Legs are for walking, hands are for grasping, brains are for thinking. However, most of you new students have not thought. You are having to do and think according to the will of others. This means that you have not lived a single day with quality. Living by your own will is called living with quality. And to live with quality, you need to be financially free, personally free. To have those things, you need to have knowledge. There is no other way, you have to study…”

Also according to speaker Le Tham Duong, all learning will become meaningless if you do not have aspiration, faith, or passion. “Never say that the regime, society, school, family, or friends make you lose faith. You are only losing faith in yourself. It is because you do not believe that you can do it that you are straining yourself to resist. Instead of becoming an “industrial chicken”, turn yourself into a “fighting chicken”. With a starting point like two blocks of explosives like this, if the rocket cannot fly, it is clearly because you do not believe in yourself. You need to find the tool of faith before starting university. When you have faith, the philosophy of liberation will appear by itself. It releases all your capacity, so that you can study tirelessly. When you can apply it in practice, you will erase the image of a donkey carrying books.”

Be wise in positioning yourself

In the context of integration and fierce competition like today, only those who do not have foresight "refuse" to go to university or in other words, you do not know how to position yourself.

“Be wise in positioning yourself to understand yourself and then make a decision. And when you decide, you will have a basis for action. You will learn on the basis that you must understand yourself, understand yourself, including: Knowledge, skills, attitude, strengths, passion. Knowledge includes specialized and non-specialized knowledge. Skills are things that must be done and are synonymous with the word “steadfast”. Attitude is understood as will, aspiration, loyalty, honesty, responsibility, discipline, execution… Attitude determines your level, my friends. Passion is not a hobby, a crazy hobby is not passion, my friends! Does passion create success? No, success creates passion. When you have passion, success multiplies, the more successful you are, the more passionate you are…”

Why go to college?

At this point, I believe you have somewhat understood the reason why you have to go to university. From the arguments and evidence, I would like to summarize as follows:

K14 freshmen excitedly took check-in photos with the speaker.

Firstly, studying at university helps you develop the first quality that you must have, which is to work in the REGION but think GLOBALLY. The press talks all day about unemployed graduates. The reason? The whole standard is not up to par, it would be strange if you weren’t unemployed.

“To avoid being included in the list of 200,000 unemployed students, you need to clearly define your learning goals. You graduate and work in Hanoi, but your capacity and thinking must meet global standards. If you don’t go to university, how can you have global capacity and thinking? Vocational schools only teach you skills. You will be a very good worker, but you will not achieve the why of it, you will not be able to handle it. Only university can help you achieve that, and it is suitable for current technology.”

Second, university helps you develop comprehensively. University helps you act in a way that is the world standard today.

Third, it is the mindset of action. College teaches you to think offensively, not defensively.

Fourth, college gives you a quality you must have: change, change, change, and change.

Dai Nam teachers took souvenir photos with speaker Le Tham Duong.

“With the ability of Dai Nam University students, I firmly believe that you will understand everything I say. Competition creates greatness. Therefore, love yourself, respect yourself and cherish the learning opportunities you have, and you will surely succeed. I see that you have a lot of potential, but if you use the wrong resources, it would be a pity…”, speaker Le Tham Duong advised.
