Faculty of Law teachers and students attended the Consultation Workshop for the Draft Report “Feasibility of the Marrakesh Treaty in the Context of Vietnam”

On December 29, 2020, the Consultation Workshop for the Draft Report “Feasibility of the Marrakesh Treaty in the Context of Vietnam” and the Publication of Two Disability Policy Assessment Studies, organized by UNDP Vietnam, was an open forum to collect comments from Representatives from ministries, branches, leaders of organizations for people with disabilities, representatives of research institutes, schools, libraries, publishers, libraries, bar associations, etc. to complete the dossier proposing Vietnam to join the Marrakesh Treaty.

World leaders have adopted the Marrakesh Treaty to facilitate access to printed materials for people who are blind, visually impaired, and have other print disabilities. The treaty legally facilitates the transfer, distribution, and sharing of accessible materials within countries and across borders.

The special thing about this workshop is the presence of staff, lecturers and 25 excellent students of the Faculty of Law - Dai Nam University. The comments from the students of the Faculty of Law - DNU are considered very useful to help the research team complete the report.
Lecturer Nguyen Ngoc Lan - Faculty of Law was invited as a Lawyer to give comments on the feasibility of the Report.
Law Faculty student groups participated in contributing ideas with experts.
In addition, the workshop was also an occasion to announce two studies: Unifying the Law on Persons with Disabilities with the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and Improving Employment Policies for Persons with Disabilities in Vietnam, conducted by UNDP in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs.
Lecturer Pham Van Luong - Faculty of Law also gave some comments to the Report.
The workshop was a great success and received many comments from the stakeholders. After the workshop, the representative of UNDP Vietnam led a group of lecturers and students from the Faculty of Law - Dai Nam University to visit all the offices of UNDP.
