Fair "rules of the game" is one of the methods to improve the teaching quality of lecturers of the Faculty of Business Administration DNU.

Each teacher believes that he has his own teaching method to attract students to his lectures. But each person learns more interesting and good methods and skills from his colleagues. That is the success of the Conference on Current Situation and Solutions to Improve the Quality of Lectures of Dai Nam University in general and the Faculty of Business Administration in particular.
Fair "rules of the game" from the start
Dr. Truong Duc Thao - Deputy Dean of Business Administration presented a paper at the Workshop.
Lecturers need to disseminate classroom rules and regulations right from the first day of working with the class. In other words, lecturers and students must agree on the “rules of the game” right from the start. “Rules of the game” aim to unify the way of working, interacting, rewarding, and punishing (if any). This consensus will help both teachers and students to be consistent in class, especially lecturers must be role models. For example, if there is a rule that students should not use phones in class, lecturers themselves must also comply.
Tell students the objectives of the course
Right at the first lesson, the lecturer needs to introduce the overall objectives of the course, clearly state the structure of the chapters, require students to prepare lessons (if any), disseminate the test plan, assessment methods and especially introduce the learning materials including: Compulsory learning materials and reference learning materials.
MSc. Duong Minh Tu - Deputy Dean of Business Administration Faculty shared methods to improve lecture quality at the Workshop.
Learner is always the center
In the process of organizing the class, it is necessary to identify the learner as the center, the lecturer plays the role of coach, organizer, and orient the class. In particular, the lecturer must spend most of the time for students to discuss, present results and debate. There are many methods that can be applied to make the learner the center, depending on the specific subject that the lecturer can implement.
Create “pressure” of responsibility for students with study groups
Courses should divide students into discussion groups. Group division must ensure a number of requirements such as: moderate group size, division of positions in the group, not letting all good/bad members be in the same group... Lecturers closely manage groups, have a form of influence so that all members in the group have a sense of responsibility. For example, when calling on students to present the results of group discussions, lecturers should randomly call on members in the group and make a convention that the presenter's score will be the reference point for the group. This creates "pressure" that makes students more responsible in group work activities.
MSc. Vu Ngoc Thang - Lecturer of Business Administration Faculty shared teaching methods with colleagues at the Faculty's Workshop.
Student assessment throughout the learning process
Regarding student assessment, there should be a variety of assessment methods, especially assessment based on the whole process, not on a specific point in time, to ensure fairness and objectivity. The lecturers in the department are very creative in assessing students.
For example, Mr. Truong Duc Thao has a very good way of grading groups. Suppose, the group has 5 students, the reference score of the group is 8. The teacher will calculate the total score of the group as 40 points, and the group will have to divide these 40 points among the group members according to the actual level of contribution, ensuring there is classification. Or Mr. Vu Ngoc Thang, instead of testing on paper or multiple choice, he gives students practical (small) business exercises and grades based on the results of the group.
Teachers should have a classroom notebook.
Lecturers need to stick to the class, care, and be close to the students. Lecturers should have their own notebooks to record the classes they teach so that they can take notes on the entire process. This will help to encourage or remind students who are on academic warning in a timely manner, avoiding students being banned from taking exams, causing discouragement.
Dr. Le Dac Son - Chairman of the School Council affirmed: The Faculty of Business Administration is a major faculty of the school. The school not only invests in the best facilities for learning and teaching but also pays special attention to developing the teaching staff - a key factor for success.
Teachers flexibly apply teaching methods and master technology
Lecturers need to invest time in taking care of lectures, slides, and mastering teaching technology, especially in the context of online teaching. The Faculty agrees that lecturers should not lecture for too long, each lecture should only be a maximum of 15 minutes, and the rest should apply other methods such as group discussions, role-playing, situations, and flipped classrooms. And especially, each lecturer needs to be proficient in online learning software such as Team, Zoom, and organize activities to attract learners.
Use the multiple choice question bank
The faculty encourages the use of multiple choice question banks, not only in revision and testing but also in the learning process. Lecturers do not necessarily have to lecture from beginning to end; instead, the question bank will force students to actively search for documents and discuss in groups to find a consensus on the answer. Through this, lecturers will focus on analyzing and explaining the questions that students often answer incorrectly and reinforce the correct answers.
