Green Summer 2024: A journey filled with enthusiasm, "sowing seeds" of love of Dai Nam University students at the northernmost place of the Fatherland

Green Summer is an annual activity of the Youth Union of Dai Nam University (DNU) to promote the spirit of volunteerism and dedication to the community of students in accordance with the motto "Where there is a need, there is youth - where there is difficulty, there is youth". In particular, for the past 3 years, the Green Summer has had the participation of teachers and students of the Faculty of Medicine of Dai Nam University, contributing to sharing difficulties and taking care of the health of people in the highlands. The journey to Po Ly Ngai commune, Hoang Su Phi district, Ha Giang province has written meaningful stories with enthusiasm and love, affirming the spirit of beautiful living and mutual love of DNU youth.

Comrade Vu Dang Tuan Anh - Secretary of the Youth Union of Dai Nam University said: This is the 17th consecutive year that Dai Nam University has implemented the green summer volunteer campaign for students to unleash their youth and passion.

“Green Summer is an opportunity for students to mature and live responsibly towards society. Through each activity, students not only bring benefits to the community but also accumulate valuable practical lessons that no textbook or document can convey.”

The Green Summer Campaign 2024 takes place from July 19 to 31, 2024 in Po Ly Ngai commune, Hoang Su Phi district, Ha Giang province.

Practical action with meaningful numbers

Within the framework of the campaign, Dai Nam University Youth Union has implemented a series of practical activities, bringing positive values to the people of Po Ly Ngai commune.

Installing 40 solar lamp posts, with a total value of nearly 50 million VND, to light up village roads, creating more convenient and safer conditions for people's activities at night.

Organized 9 summer activities with the participation of nearly 400 children, providing a useful playground and joyful moments, helping children develop comprehensively both physically and mentally.

5 gifts worth 3 million VND were sent to policy families on the occasion of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, July 27.

This is also an opportunity to educate the young generation of DNU about the patriotic tradition; the resilient, indomitable spirit of our ancestors and our nation.

The students also spent 1 day helping build a house for a poor family, contributing to making the dream of a safe home come true.

Loving Photo Studio - a special program with 2 photo sessions, brought nearly 200 photos, preserving beautiful and precious moments of the people.

Free medical examination and medicine for people

On July 24, the Medical Delegation of Dai Nam University, including Associate Professors, Associate Professors, Senior Physicians, Senior Physicians, Masters, Doctors with many years of experience in medical examination and treatment and teaching, along with 3rd and 4th year medical students, arrived at Po Ly Ngai commune to examine and provide free medicine to the people.

Here, teachers and students of the Faculty of Medicine examined and screened for respiratory, digestive, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, ear-nose-throat, maxillofacial, surgical, obstetrics and gynecology, dermatology, etc. diseases for 238 people of Po Ly Ngai commune.

Teachers and students of the Faculty of Medicine wholeheartedly examined the people of Po Ly Ngai commune.

Donated medical equipment and medicine to the Commune Health Station with a total value of more than 200 million VND.

Handed over 208 gifts to poor households, with a total value of more than 33 million VND.

Valuable lessons that no textbook can convey

Nguyen Duy Luan - class TTĐPT 15.02 shared: "This is not the first Green Summer, but it is the first time I have participated as the Team Leader of the Student Volunteer Team. Through the management and operation of the whole team, I see more clearly my responsibility in leading and spreading good values to the community."

Dang Thi Hieu – Logistics class 17.02 was moved: “Through each activity of Green Summer, I realized that cooperation, mutual respect, patience and solidarity are the keys to creating positive change. I am truly grateful for these invaluable lessons. This is also the inspiration for me to continue to develop and contribute more to society”.

Hoang Duc Toan - CKO class 16.02 expressed: “Green Summer is a memorable journey, not only bringing knowledge and joy but also close, family-like feelings. 13 days of volunteering, 30 companions together created the most beautiful and meaningful memories of student life. Thank you all for creating these unforgettable moments, see you again at Green Summer 2025!”

Green Summer 2024 has come to an end, leaving a deep impression and valuable lessons in the hearts of every DNU volunteer. These memories are certainly the motivation for young people to continue to contribute and spread the spirit of volunteering in the upcoming journeys.
