At the 2022 Admissions and Career Counseling Day taking place at the University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) on the morning of April 17, Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung - senior expert of the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training), shared the latest information related to this year's high school graduation exam and university admissions.

Independent candidates still have to register for the exam on paper.

According to Mr. Hung, the ministry has now posted sample high school graduation exam questions online for candidates to refer to, review and prepare for the exam.

"In 2022, all high school students must register for the exam online on the Ministry's Admissions Portal and the National Public Service Portal. Thus, candidates will no longer have to register for the exam on paper like every year.

However, the group of independent candidates still have to register for the exam on paper and submit it at the document reception points according to the regulations of the Department of Education and Training to enter data into the system," Mr. Hung added.

Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Senior Specialist of the Department of Higher Education - shares the latest information related to this year's high school graduation exam and university admissions.

Regarding the time of the high school graduation exam, Mr. Hung said that the ministry is currently consulting with departments to reach a consensus in accordance with the COVID-19 epidemic situation and ensure the study progress of candidates. This year's high school graduation exam is expected to take place on July 6, 7, and 8.

Regarding exam registration, the system will open around the end of April 2022 to guide candidates to practice registering for the exam on the system. After that, the system will delete all candidate data that has been registered for trial so that candidates can officially register, expected from April 28, 29 to May 12.

The high school graduation exam and exam organization are the same as last year. The exam mainly tests 12th grade knowledge.

Admission based on transcripts, no need to submit transcript copies

Regarding the university admission regulations, Mr. Hung said that the draft regulations have been published online to solicit public opinions. There are some technical adjustments, but they basically ensure the rights of candidates.

Recently, the Ministry of Education and Training has also received some feedback from students, so the ministry has made some technical adjustments.

University admission registration is centralized online on the Ministry's Admissions Portal and the National Public Service Portal.

This year, all candidates' wishes to register at schools, regardless of the method, must be registered on the system. After the high school exam results are available, schools must push the data to the common system to filter out fake candidates.

All independent admissions of schools are pushed to the system for general virtual filtering. Similar to 2021, all candidates' wishes are arranged in order from high to low, in which wish 1 is the highest wish.

When filtering virtually, candidates will be admitted to the highest choice in all choices, in all schools. To ensure the rights of candidates, the regulations stipulate that all schools must have a roadmap when adjusting quotas for different methods.

"Currently, the departments have basically completed the electronic transcripts. The Ministry has asked the departments to review all transcript scores to upload the data to the system. This year, candidates applying for admission based on transcripts do not need to send copies of transcripts to schools anymore, as the data is already available. Schools only need to go to the system to get information about the candidates' scores for admission consideration," said Mr. Hung.
