Candidates with COVID-19 who cannot take the exam will be given special consideration for high school graduation. Candidates who are F1 will be provided with protective clothing and a separate exam room.

Given the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, a number of 12th graders have contracted COVID-19. Many students and parents are concerned about the Ministry of Education and Training’s solution in case a candidate cannot take the exam due to COVID-19 at the time of the high school graduation exam.

Answering this question, Mr. Mai Van Trinh, Director of the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training) said: For candidates who are COVID-19 patients who need treatment and cannot take the exam, based on current regulations, they will be given special consideration for high school graduation.

This case is similar to other special cases such as: accidents, illness, impacts of natural disasters, epidemics and other unusual situations, unable to attend the exam, candidates will be given special consideration for graduation.

According to Mr. Mai Van Trinh, in the face of the complicated COVID-19 epidemic situation, the Ministry of Education and Training has considered a scenario of organizing exams for safe localities (not subject to social distancing).

At the test sites and testing areas, testing rooms will be arranged for candidates with F1, F2, and F3 status. F1 candidates will be provided with protective clothing and a separate testing room. F2 and F3 candidates will also have appropriate solutions and be supported by medical staff so that the exam can take place safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations.

If necessary, the Ministry of Education and Training will coordinate with localities to organize additional exam sessions. To implement this plan, the Ministry has proactively built a question bank to ensure quantity and quality to develop exam questions to meet the requirements of organizing multiple exams.

Regarding the exam questions this year, the Director of the Department of Quality Management shared: The knowledge content that has been simplified due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic will not be included in this year's exam. The exam will include mostly basic questions, while also having a reasonable number of difficult questions to differentiate the exam results of candidates (especially for high score areas such as score 9, score 10).

To help candidates do the test, the questions in the test are arranged from easy to difficult. Schools should follow the sample test as a basis for guiding students in their review.

With the announced reference exam structure, the results of the high school graduation exam are not only used to consider graduation recognition and evaluate the quality of education in localities, but also differentiate the exam results of groups of candidates, helping to correctly assess the quality of their learning and serve as a basis for most universities to use in enrollment.
