Are you wondering how you will be trained in Media, what jobs you will have after graduation, and what your income will be? Especially, in the context of digital transformation and the current Covid-19 pandemic, is studying Media a wise choice? Don't worry, this article will help you answer all your questions.

How 500 students of DNU's Faculty of Communication "survive well" during the pandemic

The return of the COVID-19 pandemic with many complicated developments has made the job search story of students in general more difficult than ever. In the context of prolonged social distancing, many businesses went bankrupt, people became unemployed, income decreased, life was difficult, but there were still people who just needed to hug their laptops or phones at home like us to "live well" during this pandemic season. Why? Because we are students of communication - a dynamic, creative profession that can work anywhere, anytime; a profession closely linked to the existence of businesses, press and media agencies, social organizations... especially in the current era of technology development.

Becoming a Communication student is not only my dream. Through the process of studying and growing up at the Faculty of Communication, Dai Nam University, we always feel lucky to have made the right choice. Teachers are good at their profession, dedicated to "holding hands and showing us the job". Right from the first year, we students have practiced at businesses, television stations, newspaper offices... directly participating in communication projects with many different job positions such as: Writing articles, managing and developing content for social networking sites such as Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, website, digital marketing, PR, advertising, 2D, 3D graphic design, video production...

Just by applying the skills learned, along with the inherent creativity of media learners, we can completely earn money and "live well" with a series of work from home jobs during the epidemic season such as: writing PR articles, taking care of Facebook fanpages, interacting on social networking sites with real accounts or participating in producing marketing videos, tiktok videos, youtube videos... we have an income of 5-7 million VND/month or even more depending on our diligence.

In the difficult context of the epidemic, with such a stable monthly income, we have been able to cover a large part of our tuition fees as well as meet our personal needs in life, reducing some of the burden and pressure on our families. And that is how we have been overcoming the epidemic season.

Communication students are happy with their online part-time "salary".

The jobs we do during our student years not only bring us income but also give us the opportunity to gain practical experience and learn from journalists, experts, and managers in the media field. These are valuable lessons that no book can provide. They are also the luggage that helps us confidently grow up, step onto the path of building a career, and become successful people in the career field we have chosen.

Employers look for people who always have impressive solutions.

Mr. Huynh Le Khanh, Senior Executive Director of Golden Media Group, commented: " A graduate who wants to have a job immediately and a high income during the time when the Covid-19 epidemic is having a great impact on the economy should ask himself: Do you have the ability to create outstanding sales growth for the company? This will depend on two things, either good relationships that can bring you contracts, or your outstanding talent can create impressive solutions".

Based on those two things, Mr. Khanh believes that being really good at a profession and being able to come up with immediately applicable solutions from the knowledge you have learned will certainly make you more likely to be recruited and valued during the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, young people should boldly take control of their lives, enrich their experiences, and expand their relationships.

"I was very impressed with a high school student who organized an online seminar and emailed us for sponsorship. After I pointed out some shortcomings in the application, after a week, he sent back the application, surprising us, and I was convinced. Right now, this student has made an effort to show such outstanding differences, so after 4 years of graduating from university, the possibility of him being recruited by a business for a management position is very high. Therefore, young people should prepare their luggage early, especially when the labor market during the Covid-19 pandemic has increasingly higher demands on work " - He shared.

Mr. Khanh believes that students should experience and participate in many activities in university and in society to equip themselves with important skills, such as the ability to solve complex problems in an increasingly flat world, practice resilience, a spirit of commitment, not being afraid of difficulties, and not being discouraged.

Commenting on the training of Media adapted to the Covid period, Dr. Tran Bao Khanh, Head of the Department of Media at Dai Nam University, said that in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic affecting all professions, in addition to studying well in their major, students also need to accumulate foreign languages, flexibility, diversify working methods, such as having the ability to work on online platforms... "Especially, during the Covid-19 pandemic, businesses are transforming digitally, so candidates must also digitize to be able to meet the requirements of employers," Dr. Tran Bao Khanh advised.
